Myself and a few mates deliberately had a good look around on Friday to check out the attendance because it was definitely up on recent games (amazing what a win can do). Blocks E and D were full to capacity. From what we could see, Blocks A to C were mostly full too. I asked a friend who sits in B about it and he concurred. The one I often forget to check is the hill beside Block E. There actually are a good few who stand there.
All in all, we estimated a conservative 1100 altogether. Given the people around the ground, that still leaves over 200 empty seats in the stand. I don't think there were that many empty seats, but I'm being conservative.
I don't agree with you bluemovie. Was there in season ticket section over the tunnel and there was loads of empty seats all over the place, not many people down low in block B and hardly any away fans in block A.I'd still stick with 900.Just my opinion.
How come if clubs in Scottish 3rd division can release definite attendance figures for the Sunday papers but most Eircom League clubs keep it quiet from the press?

I'd have said less, probably somewhere in the region of 350... stand was fairly empty and only 25/30 Rovers fans on the far side.
2300- 2400 my guess for sligo cork...
Sligo Rovers V Cork City 2,500 Approx
2500 is better than any home support from Dublin Id say.
I'm curious to know, Stu, as to be honest I've not paid attention to these threads before, but how did you get the 857 figure for the Waterford-Bray game? Just wondering where it comes from given you've had just two quotes here from people present of 900 and 1100 - was it from a newspaper or tinternet match report?
The actual figure, I would reckon myself, was about 950-1000 in the stand with maybe another 50 or so scattered around the ground, on the hill or whatever, so 1000 to 1050 overall.
Block E and D were virtually full, block C almost so, block B about 2/3 to 3/4 full and block A (mostly away fans) 3/4 empty, but it is a smaller block. I'd say in total about 300 or so vacant seats in the stand. The capacity of the stand if memory serves is 1270.
Bluemovie you probably couldn't see much of block A from where you were but it was quite sparse it has to be said. Your block B contact is somewhat misguided. It wasn't me was it? ;) Trevy your estimations of which blocks held what were quite good but your overall figure doesn't add up, with your overall figure you must think there were 400 odd empty seats, but that just isn't so.
50-60 at United v Athlone Town last night :( :( :( . A handful more in the second half when schoolboy training ended.
FAO stann,
the 857 figure is yer average over the season and not the last match ye played, read the top of his post again
:o
Well as I said, I wasn't paying attention all along, so that's a running average then, with last year and the year before's average in brackets. I see...
I won't compound it by telling you what I though those figures were! :D
Cheers Terry.
Cancel that first question so, Stu. But am still curious as to what figure you eventually decide on, have you reliable posters, go for averages, or what?
what are ways to get more people to the matches? the tickets can't be that much can they?
I thikn it's detailed towards the start of the thread. Basically, I'll choose official attendances released by the club of reported in the media first, then the most reasonable guesstimate (i.e. if someone guesses 100 and someone else says the main stand which holds 2000 was 2/3rds full, and tre were 200 standing, I'll go with the lattre) and then the lowest to keep the figures conservative.
You can tell which posters are reliable too. :) But generally, most of the regular posters here are reliable and are interested in seeing the proper averages. I'm sure some of the figures are out, but there's not really a lot I can do about that.
1930 at Pats v Shels
Stu, just noticed that you have Cork attendances "missing Pats" from the first round - we played them in Richmond in the first round.
Just shows the difference being crap makes - when we played them in our second home game of the season, the attendance was 2145 = a drop of 10%, worse if you assume that Shels, being League leaders, would've brought more last night than they did the first time. Big assumption, I know... :D
Waterford United v UCD was I'd guess about 1200 although didn't have a good view of far 2 blocks A and B but rest of stand was fairly full and maybe 200 standing around the ground.
Drogs v Cork would have been around 1,800.
Bohs v Drogs wouldn't have been much over 1,000 I would have said.
Official attendance for tonight's game vs Kilkenny: 560
Kldare County V Mons tonight counted around 210 ,
good mon support as well made the long journey down.
I'm off to the pub.
Saturday just doesnt work in Galway, didnt make it myself either
Official attendance at Rovers V Cobh was 793.
Way too high, I think.
There were 50 standing at the far and and mabe 100 beside the stand, so your guess on the numbers standing is OK. That leaves 1000 in a 1200 seater stand? Block A had about 20 people in it, and Block B was at least half empty. We reckoned 700, without a good view of the far blocks. Maybe 900 if the stand was fuller at the far end?
I'm couting "first round" as home and away, if you know what I mean. So "first ruond" here means the first game against Cork in Cork. (I know there was only one, but it's just me being consistent to put it that way...)Quote:

560-poor crwod but it was a Saturday,it was wet and it was against Kilkenny.
