Definitely twice as many Derry as Rovers but I wouldn't have the crowd that high.
A lot of things have changed since then thankfully

Yeah but that was always exaggeration. The figures never supported it. From what I can recall we got an initial allocation of about 5k, sold that out and then got about 500/700 more tickets on the Pats side of the ground from the FAI. Add in a fair number that bought in the neutral areas and I'd say it was between 6 and 7,000 LTFC fans imo.
1,100 in athlone apparently. There was about 500 or more from dundalk
Around 700 at the scene of the crime in United Park.
425 was the reported figure from Belfield, the vast majority from Cork.

Very very poor crowd at Finn Park on Sunday. Around 100 Longford fans there and not many more Harps.
Imagine that, a club that's just finished fifth in the league, with absolutely nothing to play for, on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm, while there's a full list of Donegal League and Inishowen League games going on at the same time, have a small crowd.
Beggars belief considering the huge draw Longford have for football fans across the country.
Shall I go back through the season when Longford were sitting up near the top of the table and getting crowds little over 200?
Bit antsy there Nigel for someone who's commented on pretty much every other club's crowds
Go on then, round up those comments for me. Stick it in a powerpoint presentation then if you will.
I comment on a lot of attendances simply because I keep figures for all the clubs, so I haste to say, I might notice any dip or rise in attendances for most clubs before others would.
Considering the size of the crowd Harps took to Pats the week before, it's a bit of a disgrace how few turned up on Sunday. Nothing but a crowd of bandwagonners.
It's been said several hundred times (probably) on this thread that no LOI club's fans are entitled to be sneering at other clubs' gates. They're nearly all **** was the common consensus. I'd agree with Dodge here that I don't think outspoken was getting at Harps as such. Especially after all ye've done for us lately!
All crowds are pathetic. Considering how popular football is in Ireland. Every club has a bandwagon when they have success. Its just how it is. Look at us last season, Longford this season, Dundalk etc etc
I'm pretty dissappointed with our "bandwagon". We've been back in the Premier Division for six seasons, and for four of those our crowds have been a couple of hundred either side of 2,000. I thought we might have benefited by more bandwagoners this season.
Their money would be very welcome.
One of a few grounds I've never been to. Hopefully I'll get there next year. Never been to any of Limerick's grounds, Cobh Wexford or the Belfield Bowl (if that counts as a separate ground) either.
Was in Oriel once and that wasn't even for a football match. In the current FD I've been to all grounds bar one, Tallaght Stadium......that will be sorted next season!
Away fans are very poorly catered for. However, Oriel Park is fine for home fans, a stand with good views, plenty of terraced seating (both covered and uncovered), two bars etc. It's also well located, close to town, bars and clubs etc.
I thought there would be plenty of bandwagon supporters this season. However, they haven't materialised. Do other clubs get a huge amount of bandwagon supporters when times are good?
We sure do. I'll be surprised if we don't break the 6,000 mark tomorrow, though the weather is supposed to be shocking and that tends to shave a large amount off our games.
League of Ireland clubs have at least 16 home games a season. People speak about the GAA being one off event junkies and all that. Dublin had 6 Croke Park games in the league and 5 Croke Park games in championship. A sizeable number will make about 3 or 4 Dublin Championship games as well be their club involved or not.
A lot of Division 1 football and hurling counties will be the same. They'll have about 4 home league games, about 4 championship games on average for division 1 counties and then about 3 or 4 club rounds with good crowds. There is consistently good support for these games.
Rugby then tends to have decent enough support as well. An argument is thrown out there about Irish people not going to games consistently but there is evidence there to the contrary. The challenge as always is to find the connect with people for the League of Ireland to have a more vibrant part of the Irish Sporting interests.
Our average league crowd is just over 2,350 this season, (1,950 was the avg last season) it might jump to over 2,400 depending on the crowd for the final game. The population of Dlk is 38k, so this isn't that bad considering the moderate pool to draw from. It probably should be more considering the season we had. I would have expected to end on 2,500, but at least it's increasing.
The support from the home fans has been good enough, with 5 matches in all comps this season over 3k, but the away support apart from one league visit of Rovers and Pats has reduced significantly. I think what we offer terrace going away fans has a lot to do with that.
There was a vague mention of spectator improvements in one of our programmes earlier in the summer, haven't seen anything since, but it would be good if we could allocate or find funds to improve both sides of the main stand. If this was an extension of the stand even better as it would solve the away problem in one go, not sure what that would cost though.
No umbrellas allowed tonight for us in Bray I`m hearing....................see what you boys did that time away to Pats a few years ago!
You can buy an official Bray umbrella for €10 on the way in*
*you probably can't
Facilities and cost are two big factors. €20 in to a stand from the 60s is scandalous. We went from the cheapest tickets in the league to the most expensive in a season. Our gate receipts went up but our attendances didn't. Should we hit a poor patch next season or have a few of the less attractive games in a row we could struggle.
Well Dundalk's 'bandwagon' would have started last year due to coming so close to winning the league.
It's not really a word I like when talking about LOI crowds, we moan at people for not going to games then when they do take an interest we can them all bandwagoners. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Bumping up Limerick's attendance figures here in Thomond Park!
Looks like Turner's Cross is packed already. Could be a full house?
6219 in the Cross tonight according to ET
