310 was the official attendance at Waterford United v Carrigaline on Saturday.
Yeah was defo more than that! Certainly a bit over 1,000, maybe 1,300. Tho i think this is only for league attendances. That being the case someone mentioned to me that the Drogs v Cork game was put in the paper for around the 650 mark. Pathetic I know.Quote:

In Wexford, there was 500. There was about the same in both matches in the main stand and I thaught we had as many, if not mor standing around the ground than them!

not much of a crowd there tonight compared to the cup game. would estimate 200 people /more of a away support than wednesday.

Thats true, WUFC only count paying attendance and not season ticket holders or concessionary tickets. I know this because there is no clicker at the main gate counting cars or season ticket holders who enter inside a seperate turnstile.Quote:

The actual facts are that it was Ministers O'Donoghue and then Brennan (RIP) that saw off the GAA. The SDCC actually bent to the will of the GAA by holding a vote which agreed to move from the original plan of building a stadium suitable for soccer but not senior GAA games.Quote:

My undersatanding was that it was the elected members who varied the County Managers order to go ahead and finish the satand as originally envisaged and looked to increase the pitch size and then relented in the face of O`Donnohues threat to withold funding? You are correct that it was the elected councillors who voted to make the change to a soccer/GAA stadium after pressure from the GAA.... however since they are the executive that are charged with the power to make the decisions on behalf of the council , i.e.they that are the statutery 'voice' of the SDCC...the elected staff can only advise and make recomendations.... so it doesn't really matter what the non elected officials tried to do, the reality is that the SDCC tried to cow tow to the GAA and only came to heel when the Minister intervened, and that's why I wouldn't be offering up much praise for their actions.Quote:
