And this continues. From todays English Independent:
"Around £2.5m of that went on Paul McShane, but no one before yesterday was arguing it was money well spent.
Afterwards, no one would have dared. McShane was part of a defence that failed to pick up Paul Scharner in the 19th minute and then scored a comical own goal 11 minutes into the second half. "
Some papers called the first goal a mix up between McShane and Nosworthy. McShane was marking his own player the whole time. Nosworthy was supposed to be marking the goalscorer. McShane gave out to Nosworthy after the goal so the papers call it a mix up.
The own goal. Absolutely no fault to McShane at all, just unfortunate. The Indo say McShane got the ball first but if you watch it closely Agahowa actually gets to the ball slightly earlier and pushes it into McShane's path:

There was nothing he could really do there. He still comes out of the game with more bad rep.
