And what about the gaa official who was robbed as he brought a portion of the takings south of the border after a match in Casement Park. No wonder they usually play Ulster finals south of the border where there is no VAT due on gate receipts compared to north of the border. It must be a regular thing for gaa officials to issue crowd figures that suit them.

Brillaint crowd though and for a team who hasn't won at home they've got fantastic support all year.
A few weeks ago we had a much bigger crowd for a Tuesday night game than for one on the following Friday despite playing teams of similar stature on both occasions. Midweek seems to work quite well during the summer where there is little in the way of competition from the champions league etc.

It's pretty amazing that Galway United have the 3rd highest average in the Division given our league position.
We're opening a new stand shortly and our crowds will probably increase in the second half of the season!
We're also likely to have something to play for too so the games will be important. :(
Also great to see the improvement in the Division 1 average, Dundalk are getting great attendances and will hopefully get promotion this season. Fair play to Shels fans too, being at the wrong end of the division is horrible.

yeah the old stand was packed and both ends were full. the 3,000 sounds right to me.
massive crowd for a tuesday night and it got me wondering if all games were played midweek would we get bigger crowds as there is no distractions.....
.......or perhaps it was because it was cork (with healy and farrelly) on a very nice evening and curiosity about the stand.

Spot on, fantastic to see fans standing by their team like that. So often its the case when a team moves up a division, (see Galway fans no digs there) its all great crowds at the start, then after a poor start you`re back to even lower than you had in the First Div. I would say that at most 10-20% of the people in Terryland wore scarves/jersies/tops etc. Also there isn't a huge amount of passion shown, unless United score.
Nevertheless, these are the type of "demographic" the EL needs to see at matches. Around eight months since our last win at home - encouraging that we can still pull in 3,000.
Great crowd last night especially considering it was a tuesday...the weather helped but definitely around the 3000 mark.

As mentioned elsewhere, Viva El Galway has tried to join foot.ie on a few occassions, but has had no luck.
about 2000 id say tonight, mind you the turnstile operation is a farce at the showgrounds, cash being taken hand over fist at the ticket kiosk and no tickets being given out because they ran out. This is totally unprofessional and this amateurism usually leaves the clubs dry. Crazy stuff door of kiosk wide open 2 guys inside and one at outside the door and cash all over the floor of the kiosk/porto cabin. I would love to see the reconciliation sheet.
None of these people would run their business's that way
