Proof,if any was needed, that most footballers aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.
No loss imo.

A post on X (Twitter) saying Rovers and Bohs don't have any loan players at present, this could change. I think it's good, try to build a squad that you will have for the season. Rather than getting them in , blend them into the squad , get them playing really well and then they are off back to their club and you have to start again.
Likewise with Pats, Derry and Shels so far. Seems to be a trend this off season that clubs with good budgets aren’t bringing in as many loans as in recent years. Probably through learning from experience of usually requiring replacements if the loan goes very well or badly. Cork, Drogs, Sligo still making use of the loan market, I’d imagine more so out of necessity to try and pick up some players to keep up with the budgets of the others
Any truth in Limerick that Treaty training sessions are at 7am in the mornings and that it’s making player recruitment very difficult? Would line up when you see their squad so far but that is just crazy
Harps signed Dara McGuinness from Stoke City
Jacob Davenport and Sean Robertson both depart Derry.
They never seemed to fit, to be honest. Seemed like desperation signings, Higgins throwing things at the wall to try to get the team going last season.
Treaty training at 7 in the morning is yet another lightbulb moment of inspiration from the current mgt....it will be now be added to the very long increasing list of excuses fans in the midwest have to listen to every week.
Cork City signed French centre back Milan Mbeng, last played for Charleroi B at the 3rd level of Belgian football,Cork wouldn’t fill you with confidence for next season….
Rovers signing former Celtic and Sunderland fullback Adam Matthews, last at Omonia in Cyprus …
Derry will be gutted they've missed out on that one.
Hasn't played a game since Feb of last year. Looks a reasonable signing other than that, but it's usually a bit of a warning sign I think?
14 Welsh caps, but none since 2018.
Karl Chambers from Longford Town to st Mochtas according to the gospel of FAI connect. That one stings
Well there has to be the excuses available for things not clicking until the run in!
Lys Mousset on trial with Bohs. Sheff Utd bought him for ten million in 2019 but he hasn't played a senior game in nearly two years.
From his Wikipedia:
If he signs it sounds like he'll be an… interesting character at the very least! :DQuote:
On 15 August 2022, Mousset signed a two-year contract with VfL Bochum in Germany. In January 2023, Mousset was suspended from the team due to disciplinary issues including a "lack of motivation, unpunctuality and unprofessionalism", with Bochum sporting director Patrick Fabian stating: "We kept giving him a chance, now there's no point. It's pretty disappointing because we naturally had a lot of hopes from him in terms of sport. At some point, however, the time has come when we have to protect the group as a whole." He was loaned out to Ligue 2 club Nîmes on 31 January 2023. He suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in May 2023 with Nîmes. On 9 January 2024, Mousset's contract with Bochum was terminated by mutual consent, without having played a game for the club.
:D
I don't have the brain capacity for this latest development. Also hate to say it but re:Rovers and the injured players comment, Bohs are ACL FC at the moment.

"The respected German media outlet Bild reported that Bochum had suspended Mousset over a "lack of motivation, unpunctuality and unprofessionalism." It later emerged that Mousset had reported late to training despite it taking place next to the hotel he was staying in; Bochum manager Patrick Fabian said there was “no point” in giving the striker a chance."
EDIT: It takes me that long to actually write a short post that by the time I did multiple people have already posted what I was saying.
Looks like Whelan hasn't kicked a ball yet. This is interesting as he is our main striker????
I suspect Bradley is influenced by his Joey O'Brien signing from 2018, same position sort of similar career profile to Matthews signing at 32 coming off injuries/lack of games and Bradley got a few seasons of decent milage with O'Brien and leadership to boot. Odds are that luck won't strike twice Matthews probably will not work out as well
He seems to lack the former international tag also, though it could have stretched to former underage one. Its an interesting signin, a French Kevin Hunt type find or a a contined expensive busted flush....£10mil, could that be the most expensive player to play LoI? Gillespie was a journeyman but dont think he crossed 10 mil in transfers.
doesnt matter who he plays for, thats bad luck on that boy. he really was a talent when he started but hes been plagued by injuries ever since.
I ws gutted that Rovers didnt take a punt on him, but maybe we dodged an injured bullet there
in other bohs/rovers related news , im hearing that afolabl is asking for a lowish 7 figure sum contract to sign for Rovers. gtf mate!
Hayden Cann is on trial at Derry. I haven’t seen as much of him as Drogheda and Dundalk fans but I think it’s safe to say… jaysus
Kerry's eclectic transfer window continues, having signed an Australian defender, Stevan Stanic-Floody, who had a brief spell with Drogheda's U19 team a few seasons back:

Kian Best (19), Preston NE defender, joining Bohs until the summer, according to the Lancashire Post. His contract expires in June and it is unknown whether he will get a new deal at Preston. He has had only 3 minutes of Championship action this season, as Preston have strengthened their squad, but played in 13 matches last season.
Has Success Edogun joined anyone, he seemed to improve a level last year
