Kufc 5-0
Sheriff 3-1
RESULT
KUFC 5-0 ST Brendans Park
KUFC strolled thru this game against a gallant ST Brendans Park team who were justsimply outclassed on the day.KUFC had all 17 1st teamers fit on the day whereas ST Brendans looked to have a threadbare squad(2 suspended from last week) and were always struggling.
Onto the quarters for KUFC now as we await the draw from M15.
A super win also for Sheriff YC with 10 men against Carrick, they look unbeatable on the all weather pitch in Clontarf
Clonmel Celtic beaten 2-0 and Carrick lost 5-1 to Sheriff
Ballinasloe 2-0 Clonmel Celtic. Ballinasloe worthy victors

Anybody at Sheriff or Ballinasloe games for reports
Sheriff well worth their win, Carrick very disapointing but took and early lead. Sheriff scored almost straight away a corner headed to the edge of the area was chested down and volleyed to the top corner. Sheriff went 2-1 up about 20 mins in, long ball caught our defence out and Sheriff converted the one on one. Carrick had 2 decent chances before half time which if taken might have a changed the final score. Sheriff had a man sent off just before half time for pushing a Carrick player to the ground. Sheriff weathered 10 mins of Carrick pressure at the start of the second half playing 3-5-1. After which they reverted to 3-4-2 very brave in fairness but got their rewards with a great team goal. From here on in they put on a masterclass of defending and ball play. They went 4-1 with 10 to go from a header from a corner where Adrian Walsh felt he was impeded coming from the cross. They scored a last min penalty catching Carrick on the break. Both teams had a man sent off late on, both justifiable probably an hour too late for the Sheriff number 4 who scamped for the 90 mins. The game was ill tempered and let a sour taste in the mouth. Sheriff are unbelievable team but should learn to win with a little more modesty not the NBA type slegding and showboating at opponents and fans.
Also no team should be allowed play on astro turf just my opinion but possibly a discussion for another day.
also agree that games shold not be on astro,a big disadvantage
depending on the draw, and the refs report, the sendings off could prove costly for sheriff in the next round.
whatever about getting sent off at 2-1 up,having a man sent off at 5-1 up late in the game makes no sense.
silly,and potentially costly,thing to do.
i would say the manager of sheriff would not be pleased with that
I think it was Sheriffs centre half who was sent off in the 1st half. Then the other player sent off was his replacement,so theyre.missing 2 defenders for 1/4 final.
It was the Midfield Fella ( #8 ) who got sent off in the first half . Reacted to a Carrick Lad Putting it up to him .
No team should have an advantage especially in a national or provincial competition, whether it is f.a.i. approved or not.
The f.a.i. should bring in a rule that all junior cup games be played on grass as 99% of clubs have only this option.
Maybe astro turf is the future of soccer but it is false and makes average players look half decent, it will kill the game as a spectacle in the end.
KUFCman im fairly sure their no. 8 and their No. 4 were dismissed. There was confusion for the first sending off as the ref had sent their 9 but the linesman corrected him and 8 went off. .
To the best of my knowledge Pike played Sherriff in the AUL Complex, but that was a semi final, don't Aishling play all their games on Astro and don't hear too many complaining, and numerous other clubs around the country play on them, there's pros and cons.Balla would have lost home advantage if they didn't play on it Sunday.
Fully agree with above and the other sentiments regarding astro turf. I have seen several games on this surface and the game is totally different. Just watch how high a ball bounces off astro compared to grass. That alone takes getting used to. National and provincial junior competitions should only be played on grass. A talented team like sherriff Utd, playing regularly on it, have a tremendous advantage. Having said that, cannot see it changed. If somebody put in a motion against it and it was carried wouldn't EUFA rules surpass such a decision? Like it or not I think it is here to stay.
Just wondering lads concerning the 1/4s if hour sewn at home is it a neutral venue or your home pitch ?
So if sheriff playing on an astro is a big advantage, is playing on grass not a disadvantage for them? Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to be honest, sure there's not many teams around that don't use astro twice a week for training so it's hardly new for the apposing team. Personally I don't mind it I think an astro brings out the best in more technically gifted player u can never blame a bad pitch cause its always a perfect surface. At the sheriff game myself and its was an ill tempered game. Also think it's a bit rich of cufc fella to say that it was just the sheriff lads sledging it take two teams for it to be an ill tempered game and its was coming from both sets of players and fans. When it was 5-1 carrick had Notting to lose and a few of there players lost the head with the centre mid in particular choking sheriffs captain to the ground, how he wasn't sent off is crazy.. That's how all the trouble started and the two player from each team got sent off for Notting more than handbags, to which the carrick fans gave the sheriff lad a fare bit of stick walking off which is only natural.. One other thing when the carrick line is giving a bit of stick out to the sheriff players and sheriff score its only natural there going to get some back.. If you can give it you should be able to take it.
can't comment on the match as such, but i still theink it was silly for the sheriff player to get sent off so late in the game, when they were winning 5-1.
i am inclined to agree with you,to a certain extent, that the reverse could be applied, when they are drawn away from home in cup matches.
but you have to agree that there is a measure of advantage to them on the surface they play on.
they are playing half their league matches on one surface and half on the grass,so playing on grass would not be as big a disadvantage to them,as say a team travelling to them, who play in a league that contains no artificial surface.
by the same token,i am sure teams(as fairview has),played away to teams, who's pitches, shall we say, left a lot to be desired,an would gladly have played on astro instead..
let's face it,sheriff have been one of the top clubs(if not the top) in junior football over the last couple of seasons, are the holders, and that did not happen because they play on astro.
they are a fantastic side
Some very good points there Prawn, would agree Sherriff have an advantage playing on astro and as you say they play half if not more of their games on grass, there's a big difference in training an playing a game on astro,Sherriff are the best junior side at the moment,of that there is no doubt on any surface, also saw a video of their centre forward after scoring in final last year against kilbarrack and after he scored he started to goad the kilbarrack players which was not nice to see.you will always have opposing fans getting a bit carried away, that's the nature of the beast, but it's not nice to see players doing it to the extent he did.anyway there could be some cracking ties in QF,ballinsloe and Pearse have done exceptional to get there but the rest are more or less the usual suspects, will be a once in a lifetime for both clubs who reach the final to play in the Aviva before a senior International, should be a spectacle, hope the FAI show some sense and not go buckape with the prices, were in a recession, but then again,it's the FAI .
agree re-price...and although it is a great idea to have it before a international, can you really see any of the winning or losing teams supporters hanging on for another 3 hours in the aviva???
i would think they would have pints on their minds, either to ceebrate, or drown their sorrows!!!
The last few FAI Senior Cup finals in the Aviva were on €10 to get in, but they were stand alone games, I'd say the FAI would have to generate a certain amount of cash from an international game to make it viable, but hopefully they can come to some sort of arrangement with concessions to accommadate the clubs involved in the final.....although they might try to profiteer a bit
How many supporters would go to final just asking would you be talking 2 thousand 3 4 5 thousand ??? Just asking what was the numbers at last years final ? Was just thinking would it not make sense for the fai to allocate each club let's say 2 thousand tickects at 10 euro . Because I presume with an international match on you talking cheapest ticket 30 ?? Would be a nice gesture . Or I'm I just dreaming
Sour grapes - nope better side won and will most likely win the tournament.
The carry on of players led to a reaction from supporters no doubt no problem with that. When you say it takes two to cause it to be ill tempered game, think of this, it takes one instigate it. Now ill leave at that best of luck for the rest of the season.
As regard Astro bringing best out in players, I don't think so the ball carries at an unnatural pace and bounce. Some great football was played on it Sunday no doubt just prefer grass myself.
Agree with you there, but they may hold back the presentation until Senior game has finished, this is the FAI remember, has the opponents for the senior game being announced yet,I think they are playing England at Wembey 29th May,They might get Trapapony to present the junior cup,now that would be nice,
The last 8's league form this season is as follows:
Sherriff(AUL A) W8 D0 L0
KUFC(AUL A) W7 D0 L2
St Kevins(AUL A) W5 D2 L2
Ballymun(AUL A) W4 D2 L4
Carew(Lim Prem) W11 D2 L0
Pike(Lim Prem) W9 D0 L2
Pease Celtic(Cork AUL Prem) W3 D1 L0
Ballinasloe(Ros Prem) W10 D2 L0
obviously all 8 are unbeaten in FAI, Carew & Pike are both still in Munster Junior(Pearse knocked out?) and Ballinasloe in Connacht Junior, I dont know about the Leinster Junior...it means that both Carew and Ballinasloe are yet to have been beaten this season...
found some Leinster Junior Cup stuff:
Sherriff into round 5, so unbeaten in League, FAI, Leinster
Ballymun & KUFC into 4th round
St. Kevins beaten in 3rd round
worst team i have seeing for showboating in the last 5 years was carrick, we have been down to ye on couple of occassions and some of the carry on of players and supporters was a disgrace, even after winning in carrick i left with a sour taste because of certain incidents and carry on of their players during the game,
Final score AET in Clontarf
Sheriff 0-2 Dundalk.(Kurtis Byrne,Pat Hoban)
Sheriff finish with 9 men and lucky it wasn't 7,punches thrown on numerous occasions by Sheriff players.
From a dundalk fan seems sheriff has a serious prob with there discipline another supporter claiming they were throwing punches again in a match.
KUFC & Sheriff into last 16 of LFA Cup.
Kufc & Sheriff into 1/4 finals of AUL Nivea Cup and 1/4 finals of AUL Liddy Cup.
Kufc beaten twice in League awaybeat to Sheriff & WftA.
Sheriff were unbeaten until tonite in all competitions.
St Kevins are also on a great run, only losing in LFA Cup to Evergreen in their last 10 games.
Ballymun were also on a good run.

def problems with there discipline could end up costing them the Fai suspensions are mounting now. Showing potential opponents how to get at them they obviously don't like it.
Saying that even with ten men they beat carrick 5-1 and were down to ten before ht last night and still took dundalk to extra time.
