Good write up on Bari in todays Irish Times Travel Section.
Yeah, just spotted it here. ;)
anyone know if the accomadation situation improved. im sure travel agents would be cancelling anything they didnt need at this stage.
Also did anyone hear how many actually applied for tickets in the end??
Any word on when we will actually receive the tickets for this match?
Because of the withdrawal of 1 of our travelling party we have a single room available for the 2 nights (31st March and 1st April) in the Best Western Hotel HR in Bari. The cost of the room was €159.96 for the 2 nights.
If anybody is interested PM me. It will be on a first come (with the money ;)) first served basis
Anybody staying in the Barion Hotel?
Lads, has anyone that was originally going from Stanstead to Rome with Ryanair and had their flight cancelled received a confirmation email and refund from them yet?
I spoke to them on the 24/02/09 and they confirmed that the flights had been cancelled so I changed our flights but I still haven't received any confirmation of the cancelled flights. Only for this thread I wouldn't have even known the flights had been cancelled.
The FAI rang me this morning about me tickets, they said they were sending them out today.
was looking for tickets for u2 in san siro and seen they are selling tickets for the ireland game in bari here is the link if anyone needs tickets

Tickets arrived this morning!
Got mine!
our tickets are in the "superiore" section behind one of the goals. i think this means upper tier which in a stadium with a running track around it is best. what did other people get?
Sorry havent been on this site in a while and havent really time to go back through all the pages now, but is there anyone else here staying in Monopoli??
Ah so we're in the Petals
haven't received my tickets yet, but home i'm upper tier, as the view from the lower tier seems quite poor given the running track.
Yep, I got email cancelling my flights so I applied for a refund. A week or so later they emailed me to say my request for a credit note/travel voucher was approved. Rang them to point out their mistake and a few days later I was refunded to my credit card.
Match ticket arrived last week.
This is the closest I could find.

I reckon we're in Curva Nord. It seems to be the biggest self contained area, i.e. easy for segregation, and it's behind the goal.
we are in curva sud superiore.
The running track really ruins the stadium, seems like a long way back.
We couldve that on a permanent basis if stadium ireland ever went ahead.
For anyone thinking of making the trip last minute(like me, but still cant get 2 days off work), Ryanair are doing flights for €177 all in. That's Dublin to Bari direct on the morning of the game, and back on Thursday via Milan, albeit with a long delay in that airport. Im sure 3 points would help pass the time.
sorry, but is it jus me that can't work that italian train website - i got an email back that you need to then confirm, which i can't do as the pages revert to italian. if you convert it to english, it just goes back to the homepage.
sorry, this may have been discussed earlier in the thread!!
Yeah we had a similar problem in that they wouldnt confirm our booking unless we provided them with a tax number (?) and Italian address or something so we just booked it at a train station here in Munich instead. Worked out about 10 euro more expensive but alot less hassle.
Pictures of the stadium on here.

you could have booked them in the irish rail travel centre on abbey street, but iirc it's closed now.... maybe try heuston station or creep about the terribly designed irishrail.ie and see what you can get.

cheers lads,
tight for time but might sus it out as we're in rome early on sunday
just gonna post this up here for anyone who is thinking about doing a last minute job on this italy trip.
6 of us booked a flight from cork to rome on sunday 29th as cover for in case the strike went ahead and affected our original flight from dublin on the monday.
Now that we know the strike isnt going ahead we're going on the monday and its too late to get our money back for the sunday flight.
So now there are 6 empty seats on a flight from cork to rome on sunday afternoon for anyone on here who wants them. all you have to do is pay the €35 fee to change the name on the tickets..:D
We're losing our money anyway so just said we might as well see if the seats can be filled..
Obviously you'd have to organise your way home but there seems to be plenty of cheap enough options left and this is about as cheap as anyone is gonna get out to this game!
If anyones interested just pm me and ill give you all the info needed to change the names on the tickets.
