Sorry Jumping Jac I'd be ahead of you in the Queue if they were taking on fat over rated fools.
Being serious it is a great incentive, but doesn't make up for a poor league overall.
but its no real surprise that its not a great league, the majority of the best amatuer players in dublin play in the leinster senior league, and then to rival that you have the afl,the ucl and the lfl, which is prob better all round as if there was only one league they dublin clubs would win the fai every year
Have to agree with you there inexile
Manor Rangers 1-0 up against Navan Cosmos at half time.
Manorhamilton win 1-0.
in saying thats its a poor league didnt st john bosco get to the fai cup final last year and they were relegated from that league dont really know of any other of the lower placed teams in any other league achieveing that certainly not in our league in south tipp.
thats the beauty of cup football bishbash, i saw the final last year and with all due respect bosco were unbelievably bad. they had a great run but got found out in the final, saying that their players have played in one more junior cup final that i ever will
Don't think this has been posted yet:
Umbro FAI Junior Cup 6th rd
New Ross Celtic 2-2 Grattan Utd
(Grattan won 3-2 on pens)
That's from the Wexford League site.
thats just it though they had a great run to the final thats what 7 or 8 rounds of football? Ill put it this way there is not a hope in hell of a south tipp side who finished last in our league even if they got home draws all the to the semi fianl of progressing that far. with regards to the final i think killester are capable of doin that to a lot of good sides out there.
St Peters lost 2-1 in Dublin Yesterday, supposed to have been v unlucky, missed a penalty
I agree, they were awarded two peno's, and missed one of them.
I do think the best team won even if we didn't click up front for most of the game.
we had a stonewall peno turned down and the Peters manager admitted as much.
the two penos were penos and this would show that the referees and linesmen were very fair as you would expect in Dublin.
We however played the better ball, and could have done more damage if the strikers clicked.
a bit of luck was on our side.
Corduff deserved to win on the day but SP are gutted because they didn´t do them selves justice on the day. Hard to believe they would have scored but for penalties considering how many they have netted this year. Bit of a make shift defence but thats life, it´s how you react when the chips are down and SP didn´t. A few can walk tall, but there is a couple who can´t after yesterday. Only thirteen players travelled out of about 35 registered.
Sighltly off thread, best of luck Corduff, will be hoping ye do well here on in.
just goes to show how important a home draw is, havent seen either team but a lot of people were tipping st peters to be a dark horse, while no one even mentioned corduff
Lets face it, its impossible to see anyone other than killester with regard to this years final. its strange.
i noted redcastle conceded one goal in the entire competition.
they must be a side worth looking at closely.
ballyphenane have just won two tough games. ballymun and moville (who are having a good season).
we our selves have a tough game in donegal on sunday, we expect a hard game, but everything is a bonus form here on it. milford travelled to see the game yesterday.
we have got to the last 32 four times and we have made the breakthrough this year so thats that monkey off our backs.

St peter's lost there 2 main centre half's and were missing two midfielders for the game, and played as bad as i have ever seen them.. Its a pity because i feel they have an excellent team. Corduff were ok, not a patch on trinity who peters beat last week. Pitch was terrible and the ref and linesmen were a disgrace.. But thats football and life, but of luck to corduff, by what i've seen you'll need it.

Thats odd, you need to look a few entries up to see another St P person who differs wit you.
Referee gave you two penalties, in another county that may not have happened. You missed one. nothing we can do about that.
The pitch wasn't great i'll admit, however with the weather this country has had over the last two weeks, it was in fine shape compared to allot of dublin which didn't go a head.
Trinity are a good side, however like yourselves they too were missing a few bodies the day they travelled to you. Thats something only your selves can control, not the opposition.
To finish i would say we missed quite a few opportunities due to bad shooting. The pitch can be blamed for some of it, but we'll work on that. Maybe with a bit more composure we would have scored a few more. who knows?
Finally, we did our home work on you. malahide told us you bypass your own midfield and go long and effectivly may I say, however when that didn't work too well, your game didn't change much. our midfield bossed the game. thank god they did, our strikers were not up to much and we know it only too well.
we thank you for that wish of luck, thats exactly what you need in this competition.
redcastle have a fine side and even killester would do well 2 win up there,my club west united defeated them on route 2 the last 8 last year,we beat them up there on peno's in the last 64,our midfielder blatantly handled the ball on the line in the last minute at 2-2,which would of put them through,it was amazing the 3 officials all missed it as they were the most biased home town officials we ever encountered on our travels!so they will be a tough nut to crack, but i've backed killester from the start and i'm not changin now but having said that i would hate 2 se them go away 2 redcastle, definate dark horses!
Watched this game and what a game,Grattan 2 down at the break and worked their socks off to get back level.Into extra time and it was all Grattan who were now feeling the strain of dragging it back from 2 down.Into penos Grattan 1st Missed New Ross score 0-1,Grattan score New Ross score 1-2 after 2,Grattan missed New Ross Missed 1-2 after 3,Grattan score New Ross score 2-3 after 4,Grattan score New Ross missed 3-3 after 5. Sudden Death Grattan score (squeaky bum time) New Ross missed Grattan win 4-3.Thats how I saw it going so I'm off for heart surgery before the next round ( a home tie v castelbar)
Special thanks to all involved with New Ross Celtic who gave us a cracking game and made us feel very welcome especially after the very difficult week they had.
is it neutral refs for the last 16 lads or do the league still choose the ref?
Its neutral referees and linesmen, the FAI choose the county they come form (according to their own rules). With serious expense on long trips I think its only fair.
is it up to the clubs to cover the expenses or is it the FAI?
it doesn't state to be honest, id imagine ti can only be one or two way. home team pays or both divide.

Im a Redcastle fan and i know that they are capable of going all the way in the junior cup.Av 7 or 8 top quality players. Will be hard to beat.
people are saying a lot about redcastle but what have they done,, it seems like hometown refs have gotten them this far.pike imo don't function without sniffer so apart from beating pike have they any pedigree in the fai
Only our second season in fai junior cup.People can blame officials if they want.We beat Manulla away with their ref.Last season we beat all of the top teams in ulster including Fanad utd.We are out leagues defending champs and look like doing it this year again. We are in a cup final up here as well. But football is football and best team on the day usually wins.
i would rate redcastle as good a junior side west united played in the last few years and we played ballynanty, newtown, wfta, howth celtic, castlerea, salthill devon and athenry in the last few years in the fai and from what i've seen redcastle would prob beat them all if not give them a very good game!
I think most teams at this stage fancy their chances, but I cannot see anyone getting near Killester. I would say you would need more than 7 or 8 quality players to win the cup due to injury & poor form. How many are currently starting on the Inishowen Oscor Traynor team.
