Eoin MacAoidh from Liberty Kings a young Dublin band. RIP.
The band were on tour in England, their vechicle was involved in a collision on the M1 after coming out of Manchester.
Another band member Brian Kelly is in critical condition.
I was booked in to see a show in which he was appearing in the Mill Theatre in Dundrum in a few weeks time. Very sad news.
Well Holy God! :(
Met him a few months back (Mick Lally),he was sound.
That's shocking. Rip Mick.
RIP Miley, one of the most influential gaelgoirs and movers. Saw him over 15 years ago in the Man from Clare and met him after, total gent!
Laurent Fignon died as well today after a long cancer battle. I still remember the theory that he would have gained 12 seconds on the 1989 Tour if he'd cut off his pony tail, and therefore not have lost to Greg Lemond by 8 seconds.
Francisco "Canoncito" Varallo, the last living player to play in the first ever World Cup Final has died aged 100. As well as being one of the best strikers in the history of Argentine football, he also held the record for number of goals scored for Boca Juniors, until Martin Palermo broke the record.

Triggs, faithful companion of Roy Keane. Foaming at the mouth, barking at all hours of the day and night, incontinent, snarling at journalists - and Triggs was nearly as bad.
Tony Curtis Film Star.
He was great in this.

Norman Wisdom, aged 95.
Quote:
The comedian Norman Wisdom has died aged 95, his family confirmed today.
Wisdom, one of Britain's best-loved comic actors and known for his trademark cloth cap and slapstick humour, had suffered a series of strokes over the past six months which led to a deterioration in his mental and physical health. His family said he had passed away at a nursing home where he lived on the Isle of Man.
Was never a fan, but he seemed like a nice man.
I'm sure he's entertaining everyone in heaven. I saw him in the movie, "A stitch in time" when I was just 4 and it was the first time I saw my Grandad laugh. I'm lucky to have seen him in a live show where he did his Pitkin piece as well as a snooty lawyer etc. Last saw him in Casualty or Holby City. Him and Tony Curtis in one week, though I can't think of Tony Curtis without thinking of him and Laurence Olivier getting it on in the jacuzzi, snails and oysters indeed!
Moss Keane Irish Rugby legend. Seems quiet young too. A huge figure in the 70's / 80's in Ireland and the Lions also. Played in the Musnter defeat of the All Blacks at Thomond in 78'.
RIP.

I hope he had good hearing as that instruction was open to misinterpretation

His partner, Jack Lord (Detective Steve McGarrett) went to the Police Station in the sky 12 years ago.
Probably the most memorable theme song of any police show.
As TV themes go, it's a toss up with me between Hawaii-Five O and The Rockford files, which were both Steven Cannell shows, which I guess is apropos for this thread.

Loved her in dirty sexy money. R.I.P.
Ingrid Pitt star of such films as The Vampire Lovers.

Very sorry to hear that. Met her, and her husband about five years ago - he is a very patient man. She was a little bit of a loopy diva, but then, given her experiences in Nazi concentration camps, you couldn't blame her. And she was, it must be said, a very nice diva, with loads of time for her fans and admirers.
Sad news. Surely, though, she should be most remembered for playing Heidi, the buxom barmaid/MI6 operative/nifty shot with a sten gun in one of the best war movies ever, Where Eagles Dare?!
A young me was very taken with her in that film. :)
Should in all likelihood be on one of the stations over the holiday period, it usually is, will be watching again to say farewell then... RIP Heidi.

Hmmm, did you ever count the number of Germans killed in that movie for the loss of no Allied soldiers! If reality had been like that, the war would have been over by 1940 ;)
I just remember Ingrid for displaying her ample wares in the Vampire Lovers. I was very young and impressionable at the time and they made a big impression on me!
Ha, yeah that's true enough, though there were the two group members bumped off by the double agents at the start, the three double agents themselves later on, and Col Turner at the end, although only one of the 6 was killed by a German hand.
Certainly not very realistic, a few glaring historical inaccuracies too, but still a classic. Clint Eastwood at his taciturn best, Richard Burton being Burton, a bus chase in the snow, more boobytraps than you can shake a stick at, "Broadsword calling Danny Boy!", it's all there! :D
I must keep a look out for the Vampire Lovers though, for old times' sake.
