I didn't see the game but I'm not at all surprised by the result. I think most Rovers fans had written this season off long ago. There is some merit in Kenny but he seriously needs to clean out some of the deadwood he signed in February. His rigid adherence to the 442 at the start of the season has really screwed the team up when it was obvious to everyone it would never work.
What i expected, i knew they had missed too many easy chances, especially o'donnell at the end, if even 1 of them had gone in they would be through now. A bit like sligo rovers last year in Ukraine, they could have been leading 2-0 going into the home leg, and played a completely different game.
Is it? I thought it was just us out the LoI circle who based such an emphasis on European progression for the league to have a better standing. If Rovers were heading in the direction of financial trouble like previous champions it'll be bad for the league. From what I've heard, there's been no signs of Rovers gambling that they were going to get through last night. I'm sure ye will bounce back. Belgrade suffered a set-back when ye knocked them out last year. Now ye've a set-back that ye'll have to come back from. Groundwork could constitute a belief and confidence in other LOI teams, that they were capable of getting good results in Europe.

But to answer your question. The bottom 6 teams, of 50 odd, enter the cl in the first round. We're currently mid to low thirties. So long as one team does well occasionally it won't happen anytime soon.
What will happen is three teams in the first round of the el. Which should in theory make three teams progressing through a round possible.

F91 Dudelange. Interesting history behind this club as 3 teams in the same town merged in 1991 to create one that was financialy stable. 10 years and they dominated domestically and now in the 3rd Champ League round. the 3 teams that merged all had a decent history of their own so was a big chance to take; though the town is only about 20k. Maybe Dundalks 3-3 draw away to Grevenmacher wasnt such a bad result after all :pQuote:
