It's good that you got that petty dig in. It adds to the thread.

To make the point at how easy it is to misinterpret a chant at a football match. Rovers were hung drawn and quartered on this site, SARI was contacted, complaints made to the FAI, UEFA and FIFA because the same chants in the video above were taken to be monkey noises at Joey Ndo when it was obvious to any Rovers fan it was just hoops hoops hoops. Point made lets leave it there.
do you really want to bring this up again? So your defence is no longer that the video was doctored? Or that when Ndo had the ball the crowd were chanting "boo, boo" at him?
Sure.
It was obvious to everybody else (and even a few more honest Rovers fans) that it was racist chanting.
For other rovers fans, first it didn't happen, then it was 'short booing chants', then it was 'hoops hoops', and finally, it was doctored. All of the various excuses were and still are pathetic.
Likewise id love to go, went to pats in the RDS against berlin and this obv is another level, but i actually would feel bad about taking a ticket from a more die hard rovers/LOI fan who deserve to be there. surely rovers fans will sell it out, theyve sold out a few times since it opened and shud do def for this....
To be fair, there will be plenty of casual fans there whose season-ticket holding friends and family members get them in. It's their reward for investing in a season ticket so even as a fan I can't complain.
Not every die-hard fan is a season ticket holder, but there's is no other way of making sure as many get their chance as possible. Not every ticket will go to a diehard fan - the second ticket bought might go to family or workmate..that's impossible to 'control'.
But from the club perspective, the tickets will sell..
There were no excuses, as there was nothing to excuse. We did it then, we did it last night, we'll do it next week, and we'll do it next year. It is a clean chant merely stating who we are, and nothing to do with racism.Quote:

Funny, I've never seen him up in Tallaght. Maybe somebody in the know could get the real Bono in a Rovers shirt in the stadium in Turin while the game is on down the autostrada!
It's a joke account.
It's actually quite convincing. I was taken in for a few weeks until I noticed he was having conversations with his journalist friends.
Well done to Shams, great stuff.
Went to the Bohs game for my sins with DCFCSteve, up from London. Bohs were a complete mess, no heart, no passion. Were rudderless. But TNS are a decent team, and they def deserved the win. I expect them to win the Welsh league at a canter, and they are a full time set up.
Fingal were unlucky, scoring 4 goals and not getting even a draw, and at least Dundalk got us some co efficients.
When the draws were made, I only expected one team in the next round - Bohs, so Im not too disappointed for the LOI. The LOI teams got tough draws this season, so well done to Shams for getting to the next round
Was half thinking of heading to Italy on a cheap flight from London, but my wife is after hiding my passport -LOl
Now dont call me crazy and do hear me out here.
But maybe just maybe I could have mistaken your fans singing about how Joey Ndo's father wash's elephants and his mother is a whore and the whole time it was just a "hoops hoops" chant.
It explains it all, and id say it also explains why you have openly Facist fans on your forum and why you have the same clowns over on Stormfr@nt.
It all stems from the "hoops hoops" chant.
Sad that you had to bring this up again and try and fob it off with the general positive feeling for Shams after their result.

scoll down on right 'til you see the hoops..
All the best for the Juve game Rovers and dont mind the begrudgers.
What stadium is the Juve v Rovers game in?
Stadio Alberto Braglia. Its a 20,000 seater, Modena FC's ground. Not sure if that'll be big enough for all the hoops travelling but its the best they can do thanks to Bono's antics...

The picture there is a bit old I think, its had a facelift and is fully covered.
Firstly, sincere congrats to Rovers on a great result in Israel asnd best of luck V Juve (a small club from Italy :o)
FFS lads, let us be glad for you without making up more crap to have a go about Bohs, we DID NOT budget for Andelecth (or any second round game) and there was rascist chanting at Tallaght, get over it.
Pure minnowism to soil your teams achivement by dragging up crap like that, enjoy your success as SRFC and leave us to get back to winning our title
from 2.19 onwards Pat Fenlon speaks to BohsTV 1 about the TNS game

Is Rovers v Juventus on TV? As of last night there was nothing on RTE website. I live in London but my local has all the Irish channels.
game is definitely live on RTE 2 Stuttgart
Something like Radio Luxembourg afaik...
rte just announced they are showing the game at tallaght on thursday.
......and according to RTE (and MNS' Twitter page) the game will be available live on the RTE website across the world (except in Italy where the rights have been bought by Mediaset). Good news for the exiles who won't have to trawl the web for exotic European TV channels.
Will be giving this a miss - watching Molde vs. Stuttgart or Vålerenga vs. Barcelona instead
Not really - I'll be in Norway on Thursday and have been offered a ticket for the Barcelona game (plus I'd rather go and watch a game involving a club I support, Vålerenga, than watching a game involving two clubs I don't particularly respect or like out of some bizarre sense of duty just because it's a club which play in the League of Ireland) - and a German mate of mine is a Stuttgart fan, so have been invited to his place to watch the game on TV if I didn't fancy the Barca match.
Both better options than being huddled over a poor quality internet stream.
Fair enough. I won't be supporting Rovers on Thursday night myself, but I'd still like to watch it to see how they get on. Your first post came across as being slightly bitter towards them because they're getting a big day in the sun, but I was wrong. I guess watching Barca is a decent enough excuse :)
Wait, were we all supposed to RSVP to that post?
Sorry, RTE and Rovers, I'll be washing my bald head that night
I will be watching. But I shall be sporting my Juve jersey that day because I don't like Shams. I have two. One for tomorrow and one for Thursday.
Off-topic, but do people generally wear their club shirts if/when they watch them on TV? Not a criticism, but I've never really understood doing it at home. Maybe in the pub but even then probably not.
I'm usually at the game. I wear my nicest boxers and a Rovers related t-shirt.
CSKA 1:0 Cliftonville 60 mins
After fullback Pavel Vidanov scored in the ninth minute for CSKA (pron. seska), Cliftonville have held their own. CSKA are shooting from long range.
CSKA 3-0 Cliftonville - 2 goals in a minute
Garrett sent off for cliftonville with 2 yellows in a minute
God knows what will happen in the next minute.
2-0 to Anderlecht away to TNS after 18 minutes really provides further evidence of how bad a result last Tuesday was for Bohs
