They started putting the paper work through at 4pm which means the transfer is valid but will not be confirmed until everything has been okayed by the FA today.

We had this conversation on another thread recently. Damian Duff I think. I had heard that they were entitled to the remainder of the contract paid up. And this is generally worked into the fee payed by the buying club. And that more often than not some agreement is met between the player and club etc...
Move to Villa now completed, usual pictures of Dunne holding the shirt have been taking at the Ireland training ground.

Villa have completed the signing of Richard Dunne from Manchester City on a four-year deal.
The transfer has been finalised after the clubs agreed a fee last week and the player passed a medical.
Dunne, who has 52 caps for the Republic of Ireland, began his career at Everton before moving to City in 2000.

Hopefully he will have an impact similiar to the last Irish centre back at Villa. I mean Paul McGrath if there is any confusion.
When Paul went to Villa there was a lot of doubters but he proved them all wrong.
Out of acorns, there grows a mighty tree.

"They (City) told me that had accepted an offer and I said 'but what happens if I want to stay and fight for my place'. Believe it or not, they said they needed the money," he laughed.
Delighted if city start leaking goals. :)
Mark Hughes must be off his head, Dunne's head and shoulders above Lescott and Toure.

I'm stuck for time so won't post the link but Dunne is very scathing of City in today's UK Times.

Worst game in Ireland shirt tonight....looked lost.
Agreed, Okkas gave him the run around. Some very clumsy challenges and needless frees given away near the end. Couldve given away a penalty as well. I think Dunne suffers with an Okkas type of player, small and pacey, Sledge may have been the better option to mark him.
Clumsy, akward and poor judgment. Awful game by Dunne.
Horrid, looks to have lost a step, cant believe it but the boy needs to get his head on straight. He did more tackling today with his arms than Lawrence Taylor.
I have to think Sparky knows whats up at this point, Dunne seems to be regressing.
I realize he did play Bulgaria by himself but he seems out of sorts.
Well, he's had a bit of a Sh!tty week after all!
That would be a reasonable excuse for his performance.
