Pike B 4-1 Granville
We played out a tough game on a fantastic pitch in glorious sunshine this morning, what junior football is all about, and we got the dream start as Pike Rovers old boy Me! popped up on the edge of the box and fired low past Stuie. 1-0 and we were value for it. But as expected Pike came flying back at us and scored 3 in quick succession to go in two goals up at the break. We played some lovely stuff in the second half at times and Stuie made several top saves but Pike hit us very well on the break and put the sealer on it late on with time ticking away. A very strong side, Pike will go a hell of a long way this season, well done to both teams on a clean hard competitive game.
Best for us: Niall Doran.
League is between pike and dines,I know it's early but these two are the strongest by far,
Shannon Hibs 0-1 dines...Hibs were by far the better team in the 1st half and should have been at least 2 maybe 3 up.dines getting a goal around the 60th min after more hibs pressure in the first 15 mins of the second half, after dines got the goal they controlled the game holding on to the ball well. anyone know any other results for the day??
Charleville 2 Fairview B 2
Geraldines won this game as a result of a very bad goalkeeping error. Also, we hit the bar, missed a one on one and another good chance. They created very little at 0-0, looked ok at the back in fairness to them, solid enough but the chances we missed were very bad. Should have been 2 up and closed out the win. Bad misses and a bad mistake cost us the 3 points today.
Sign of a good team winning when they shouldn't have.
Saying that, Hibs played well but really have to take chances or it could be a long season of if's and but's.
So far what ive seen from 4 games they only turned up for 2 of them, they were very bad against Pike B, very good against Balla B, extremely poor against Shannon Town and ok against Dines. Really need a goal scorer because some of the chances missed in games are nothing short of shocking.
Not to be making excuses for our poor start, but... we've had 4 games, 3 away, next game is home then we're away twice in a row. This makes 5 away games in our first 7 fixtures. Can anyone explain the L.D.M.C's thinking there?? Or have any other club such a tricky start?
Be nice to have all home games near end of season when things are won and lost on midweek games
Mungret 0-0 Shannon Town
Probably a fair result in the end with both teams failing to get their first vital 3 points! Thought we started the brighter and were on top for the first 25-30mins with plenty of the ball but other than corners never really got a good chance. Shannon shaded the rest of the first half, got balls in behind us but like us never looked like scoring.
Second half was even enough with Shannon hitting the bar from a brilliant lob from the half way line which would of left our keeper fairly embarrassed to say the least. Shannon went down to ten with around 10 mins left and we missed our only real good chance with time nearly up. At least we are up and running!! Big game Thursday away to the dines who by all accounts are flying - what better time to get your first 3 points!!
On a positive note i have to praise the ref (S Rooney), we had him Thursday too against Balla B and i thought both games he was v good.

Keith McCarthy is a very good keeper very important at this level.
