Work on the new stand in the RSC which will have seating capacity of circa 1700 started this morning. Lorries & builders on site. When completed will bring covered seating capacity to 3000.
whats the story with Shels new stadium ? Will it be up to much ?
What new stadium??
I thought we were going to sell Tolka and move elsewhere (although in a poor stadium)....
The 1,500 seater stand is alright. I thought it was only a 500 seater stadium.
I think Athlones stadium is pretty cool.... You can probably put a second tier above it and get 25,000 in the door if it goes the whole way around.
:D :D
will the athlone ground fill out the corners when fully completed ?
The lease on Tolka was sold to OswaldMosleyKilkenny years ago and he's been drip feeding us the cash from that deal to help Ollie out in his world domination thingy. We'll be lucky enough to have enough cash left to buy a table at thejollyrodger Pirate Poker Classic
I'll give him a chair har har... but shiver me timbers I cant afford a stadium for me maties though
Drogs planning application progress can now be tracked on http://planning.meath.ie just put in the ref. No. SA70455
with as population of approx. 15,000* I wouldn't think that the upper tier phase of Athlone Town stadium (Lissywollen) is planned for oh, say, what, maybe 30 years or so!
ps - it was pie in the sky ideas like yours above that has your club in the situation you find yerselves in today!!!

sorry that was a hypothetical... I was talking about the design.
First time up in Oriel since they did it up - still not convinced about the pitch, but the ground looks a lot better. Much neater, new shed looks good, various bits of old metal and random shrubberies are gone too.
Arkaga apparently has plans for us to build a 28,000-30,000 all seater stadium, my guess would be in the new Docklands development.
Seen here:

Apparently the Belfield Bowl will be getting a cantilever stand over the whole of the seats in the next couple of years.
well, a few months later, and work has recommenced on our new stand, the foreigners were kicked out, and a few dubs have come to help us out, by firstly ripping down what was built of the seating section, apparently they don't have a clue as to why an engineer passed it to be built,
two dates iv'e heard for completion are end of september and end of november, hopefully september,
Is that the Shels fans tonight?
Clever way to put their anger to a good use.
anything happening at richmond at the moment?
the people of cork paid for the Lodge, it was sold to the Bigots by the AOh due to the poor management and effective corruption by successive Cork (United, Athletic, Hibs) clubs.
News coming out of Wexford Youths is that the first of the permanent stands will be completed for the start of next season.
A little wooden shed has appeared in the Bowl. It looks like the type of thing you'd get in a garden centre.
Leinster has a match in the Bowl on 15th September so I presume everything will be finished by then.
I was over there just now to watch Ireland train and it seems finished except for half a fence to be put down on the stand side and the turnstiles haven't been installed.
Where did Richmond Parks stand disappear to?
A lot more temporary than anticipated then.
Touche.
Only lasted three or four games though, yes?
Relevant to the FAI Cup Final, new bucket seats are half installed in the Angelsea (Main) Stand in the RDS (it spells R and D at the minute) and the framework for the temporary stands on the other 3 sides is in the process of being put up.
They are considerably bigger than the stands installed a few years ago for the Leinster games. I hope the nuts and bolts are well tightened...
New floodlights look the biz as well.
