Feck it anyway.
What kind of defending was that?
Btw, Is it just me or is Killian Brennan more trouble than he's worth?
Rovers still only need one goal.............
A goal will still take Rovers through. Not sure where it'll come from though unless there's a change of game-plan.
Typical. Why is Twigg so bad in 'Europe'?
Bad Bad Bad but Rovers needed to score anyway so its better coming at this stage than the 88th minute. Rovers have 45 minutes to save their season and Stephen Kennys job.
Won't somebody think of the co-efficient!
McCormackas and McCabas......;)
I think it's time for Brennan to get what Brian Kerr calls 'the big hewk'.
Balls. Looks like game over.
Must be the end of Kenny now.
what part of the word "groundwork" did you not understand or why ignore "getting it raised in the first place". Or choose to ignore the fact that i claimed a fair chunk, not "all".
Coefficients were around prior to ten years ago. At no stage did i reference the excellent work done by other clubs, and more rarely Bohs, in the years since to sustain and build on the initial breakthroughs "which subsequently made things a tad easier" for other clubs to sustain a decent coefficient through better seeding and/or draws.
Ill gladly stand by my post.
Not sure about that, he is on a 3 year contract for a start, if they did go that route would obv need to pay him off. Didnt he get the boot from Bohs for not advancing in Europe, at the time I thought it was a crazy reason.
Rovers better off sticking with him, still a lot of postivies about their club, league probably too far away, but the Cup isn't, either is a return to Europe.
No surprise really. These lads are fairly moderate but Shamrock Rovers haven't been up to the pace of it all season.
Where to now for Rovers? If Kenny is on a long contract can they take the hit to get rid of him or can they risk falling away further and losing vast revenues. They aren't going to improve while Kenny is in charge, he seems all at sea and the players aren't playing for him.
Rovers have no one in the middle to put their foot on the ball and take command. It's not unique to them, the Irish national team have the same problem.
2-0 down ...... its poor stuff in fairest
Who'd of thought a Dubliner would have a more troubled life in Tallaght than they did in Derry?!:) I know I'm in the minority but I'd love him back at the Brandywell! It looks like Shams will be lucky for no more goals conceded!
dont forget that team is peppered with players that conceded 4 away to TNS and held Bohs to ransom over bonuses in Europe. And a manager that crumbles under the merest hint of expectation. Hardly the most reliable bunch. You reap what you sow Kenny/SRFC. I said from day one when Kenny was appointed that they would all regret it, i didnt think it would be so soon...
Shamrock Rivers have only themselves to blame ... they had 3 golden chances to score in the home leg and they threw them away .... you just cant do that in Europe and they lost over half a million euros for losing tonight .... i think kenny will be gone by friday.
Agree completely, even Ronan Finn can play ball, but they don't seem to be able to look up. How many times have the wings been free and they haven't let the ball out. Can't blame the manager, it's just something missing in the players.
2-1. McCabe with a penalty two minutes into stoppage time after a hand-ball in the box. Another two minutes of stoppage time left to find an equaliser.
2 - 1 now but looks too late.
Ends 2-1. Disappointing. Sives had a free header from a free-kick at the very end with which he should have done much better, but Rovers left it far too late. Not good enough.
Sham..bolic Rovers out but is Kenny??
Terrible to watch.
Feels like the bad old days are back again for Irish sides in Europe. Can't see Kenny keeping his job now.
How far does the ireland coefficient has to drop to get into first qualifying round of the champions league?
Hard luck to Shamrock Rovers. They represented the league well last season. Not every year will go to plan. I expressed a fear last year after their qualification success to the EL group stages that they could go out of the opening CL round this year. That's football. It happens. Belgrade had ambitions of being back in group stages when Rovers ended them. Rovers will bounce back from this.
Rovers barely deserved a goal tonight. They looked completely toothless and out of ideas once they went behind, if not long before then. They're stuck in a rut, but they still have the players to mount a title surge if they can get out of it. Hopefully Pats and the other Rovers can put in a better showing, certainly they should be in a better place mentally for their ties.
Qualifiers are knock-out football. We're not always going to get through. The hope is more often than not we will get through so there are going to be years like this where it does not go our way. In 2 or 3 year we could be looking back on '11 did well, '12 knocked out early, '13 get to play-off at least and '14 possible group stage again. At this time it looks bad but as I say if we get through more often than not, when not, there'll be years of disappointment like this we should get over.
I used to think European football was essential for the LoI. It naturally is to a degree but it's a lame excuse I have to admit for people staying away and not getting behind their local club. Enjoy the good days when ye have them. :)
Jennsen saved them from a 5-1 drubbing tonight.
Standard of LOI football this year is abysmal, hopefully Pats and Sligo can restore some dignity for the league.
I almost feel sorry for Kenny having to share the charter plane home with "supporters" chanting for his dismissal.
I think they'll win the cup and will recover in the league regards in the top 3.
Can we always associate the standard of the league to progress in Europe. If Shamrock have nicked a goal from the late free after the penalty, it could've been a different story though not deserved on the night.
I think Rovers will have to stand by Kenny. If their club go down the road of sacking a manger in tough spells like this, they might never progress. While they're in a bad position now, if the recover their season and do well in the cup, their club will be in a better position for it.
All over to Pat's and Sligo Rovers now. I believe Sligo Rovers can win 2-0. It'll be a tough task but they can do it. I'm very hopeful over Pat's as well.
Its a simple question .... if you cant answer ... then don't write anything ... thanks .... i'm curious ... if we get into first qualifying round again, we might win a game. It looks like we are not going to win many this year! Thank god for St Pats down the last few years in fairest
Anyhow hopefully St Pats and Sligo can do something on Thursday
