Or was he hoping to take a look at him there? Weren't there two games in a few days and he was picked for the first? Maybe he would have played Ward v Scotland even if Wilson had played against NI.
I take your point but there's been a general clamour over the last year or two for Wilson to be back up CB, defensive CM etc. too.
For what it's worth I'd have had him on stanby at least. I think circumstances meant we haven't been able to see much of him yet. I see other managers have picked uncapped players for their squads but I can agree with Trap for not changing things too much.
