Yeah, I watch Pawn Stars. Some of the stuff they get in is unreal. Storage Wars is a trip. The one last night, Dave bought a locker for $350 and it had 12 grand worth of Ivory jewelry in it! Axe Men on the History Channel is another good one.
Finished both Boardwalk Empire and The Corner in the last couple of weeks. Both excellent, if somewhat different. Boardwalk Empire looks like season 2 will be even better (and longer I hope).
Dexter or Generation Kill (or both) next up I think.
Could never get into Dexter. Tried, and it seems like something that'd appeal to me, but for some reason I just didn't like it
The Killing (Danish version). BUY IT NOW. Just finished it after watching 10 episodes in a week....
Think the american remake started last night.
Been having a hard time sourcing it (original), from the beginning, as was in week 10 on bbc before got a mention on here.
Bbc4 seem to have started with some french thing now - anyone an opinion on it?
Would also like, once again, to mention justified. Seems to have really found it's feet now, in second season. Think Walter Goggins as Boyd is brilliant.
Yep American version did start last night on AMC. It has got good reviews so far. I just hope they have a different killer so I can watch it!
It really is worth buying if you cannot download it. Once you get to episode 3 or 4 you are addicted.
Spiral is the french drama you mention. BBC4 is on series 3 now so I'll probably get it on dvd. It has got decent reviews.
Missed the 1st two episodes put saw from episode 3 on, then missed the last two due to work and some fault with my DVD R that didn't record it for some reason. Anyone know where I can down land last two episodes
Just watched the first episode of the AMC version, and I'm kind of unerwhelmed, but I'm sure it'll go on to be a great series. I haven't seen the original but I'm gonna track it down before I watch anymore of the AMC version, the European original versions are always better (Let me in, Insomnia etc,)
Just watched the first episode of Game of Thrones, pretty underwhelmed but I'm sure it will get better, pretty tired of Sean Bean though.
Season 2 of Treme starts this weekend in the US, I think.
It's unnatural to wait a week to watch a next episode, so I think I'll wait until theres a batch of series 2 episodes available.
I caught up with Blue Murder, an Australian oldie from 1995. Only 2 parts, total length 3 hours 20 mins. It's superb stuff. If you have seen an episode or two of Underbelly ('Neighbours' with guns) then some of the story will be familiar, but this is the drama which tells the story - stripped of soap, understated and served icy chilled.
It might be hard to find but it is available.
Finnish crime drama called Raid (2000), is a classic of a different kind. Black humour by the barrow load that had me in stitches but also a good crime investigation and a top level state conspiracy thrown in.
Includes the line 'will they swallow, if we say we did it for the good the nation?"
To get back on the comedy I can't recommend Bob's Burgers enough. Currently on E4 and on 4OD. And started on 3E last week.
Anybody watching game of thrones?
I've just started the second book Tets & I'm really enjoying the novels. The first book is about 800 pages and even with 10 hours of tv they still have to miss bits out but on the whole they've done a good job. A few people in my office who haven't read the books are struggling with it but press wise it has been getting rave reviews.
Has anyone started watching Season 7 of Deadliest Catch yet? verdict? Normally I like to watch a couple episodes back to back, so leaving it for a few weeks yet before I get into it.
Just started watching the wire (probably about a decade after everyone else) it's really good, I can't recommend it enough. If you like the Shield or Oz, you'll really like it, it's better than the former and as good as the latter.
