Hope this works out for the lad. Kenny has really alienated him which is areal shame very poor andanagent. Tge explanation previously seemed to be tge obsfemi likedvyo play in a 2 not in a 3 which didn't suit Kenny which is hilarious considering how Kenny doesn't seem to know what formation he wants to play goingbpn the last number of games
As with Randolph, who has had to take the extraordinary step of having to make public statements on at least two occasions to clear up the fact he hadn't, in fact, made himself unavailable to us, the marginalisation if Obafemi does again seem to be down to a personal dislike of a player by Kenny rather than for any rational footbaling reason.
I just hope we haven't lost him, because this lad will be around a lot, lot longer than the current Irish manager.
Obafemi's total of 25 mins so far this season in first team action may have had something to do with his not being selected for the squad.

“ It should be noted that Ferguson’s promotion was arguably fast-tracked by the agents of Mipo Odubeko (18) at West Ham and Southampton’s Michael Obafemi (21) informing Crawford that the Dublin-born strikers are focused on Premier League breakthroughs this season.”
Well given that Odubeko is now at Huddersfield and Obafemi is likely to sign for Swansea in the next half hour I'm going to say those premier league breakthrough hopes are looking a bit optimistic at this point.
In fairness, you can't lay Obafemi's lack of caps at Kenny's door, when his biggest season was 2019/20 when he made 21 of his 32 EPL appearances and scored 3 of his four EPL goals - and McCarthy was the manager during that season. And even then, you can't really fault Mick, as Obafemi missed the first international window with an injury and didn't really get going until October. And in 2020/21 he missed most of the season through injury. So the timing has been off to date for Obafemi - I hope he makes a big impact at Swansea so when the summer friendlies and Nations League roll around, it will be reasonable for the manager to give him a few caps.
I hope to be wrong but I don’t think he’ll play for Ireland again :(
He’ll have to start delivering now after Blackburn put up dough for him = = That’s the way it is.
Yeah, kind of... it was just after he broke through at Southampton, but it was also in the aftermath of the Declan Rice switch - O'Neill was asked about capping him and answered by mentioning that it looked like Obafemi would have to make a decision about his international future and that we'd have to wait and see about him, to which Obafemi tweeted a picture of himself in his Ireland jersey, with the caption "All In!"
Played the full ninety for Swansea today against Luton today and hit the woodwork with one strike: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/58525101
So I'm going to say it... give him a shot in the Qatar friendly, and possibly the Luxembourg qualifier - same goes for Scully and possibly even Coventry
I know the excuse was used previously that Obafemi may not be best suited to a 3 man forward line. However, I think he'd form a nice partnership with Idah in a 3-5-2. I think we would be much more dangerous with that than the 3-4-3 that Kenny went with against Serbia and Azerbaijan, one with midfielders behind Idah and one with forwards behind and beside Idah.
I think this team gives us a better chance going forward than we had against Serbia: Bazunu; Duffy, Egan, Omobamidele, Coleman, Hendrick, Cullen, Knight, Doherty; Obafemi, Idah
I think this is the issue with Kenny. He is a 433 man but now has switched to 5 at the back but still wants to play with a notional front 3( centreforward and 2 wide players) hence the positioning of connolly and parott as ineffective wide players at home. As you say je likely would prefer to have ogbene playing as one of the wide players on that front three instead of likely parrott with mcclean the other wide man in the front 3 when Steven's is back fit. To me that gives you a 541 not this 523 that Kenny might want it to be mainly cause we don't have 2 exceptional midfield players who will dominate the play and our wingbacks aren't at that level to play as inverted full backs and come into midfield positions to allow the 2 wingers have space to play in. I agree with the earlier post play 3 in midfield and 2 upfront and absolutely have obafemi as an option for that 2 along with idah connolly parrott and Hogan
