I thought his family were irish are you sure he is not eligible?Seems even more strange if true after the FAI statement a few months ago saying he had commited to us. I had hoped he would see the light and come back to us. Villa must be livid. Did they get a big fee or just a tribunal settlement?
Liamoo, attached is the link indicating his move to Arsenal. I am totally confused as I thought he had rejoined England. You tend to know a hell of a lot more about young Irish players, could you post the FAI statement as I would love if he has rejoined us!

Edit:
This link suggests he is sticking with England and that the FAI statement was incorrect. Can anyone enlighten me?

he was in the u17 squad in February for a friendly and had apparently pledged his allegiance to Ireland: http://www.fai.ie/international/yout...e-croatia.html
but he played for the England U17s in their qualifiers less than a month later: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-29129461.htmlQuote:
Danny Crowley features in the squad also after pledging his allegiance to Ireland ahead of England. Danny has played for Ireland at U-16 level, while representing England at U-16 and U-17 level also.

Yeah thats the latest of his switches but he has leapfrogged over and back for the last year or so. I assume he is still eligible to switch back to us as he did not play competitively for us yet. Would Brady have been involved in recruiting him?Maybe he can have a word as it seems the lads family are very Irish
Sky Sports News reporting that Chris McCann has signed for Wigan on a 3 year deal. Replacement for McCarthy? Not a bad move, I reckon they will be challenging for promotion and COyle is a fan.
Roy O'Donovan signs on for another two years at Northampton.

According to today's Mirror, Paul Lambert has told Enda Stevens he can leave, no link available yet.

That's terrific news. Hopefully Lambert proves me wrong and gives them a shot this year!
Hopefully this works out for Doherty!

That could be good for him - Mick has always kept an eye on the league and recognised the talent of Irish players. I wonder if he'd be better off finishing the season with Waterford though considering they've finally got their act together.
Another Irish ancillary staff employee at Arsenal, pity we don't have any senior players there!

Kelly had a great career as a player, management would be an interesting new chapter for him!

I'm getting a weird feeling of deja-vu about this story...An experienced and popular international full-back from Drogheda, who represented us in multiple World Cups and who has recently retired decides to start down the management road around the same time the National Team's manager (who had much success prior to this but rather mixed results since taken over) looks like he may have to step down, with criticisms being levelled of a negative style of play and late goals being conceded...why does this feel so familiar? OH NO!!! SOMEBODY LOCK JOHN DELANEY UP, QUICK!!!! DON'T LET HIM READ THIS STORY!!!
best, judge, o connor and o sullivan all got at least a half for blackburn in first pre season game.K Thornton played for wrexham
Rory Donnelly (I know he hasn't fully declared yet) played in two friendlies for Swansea against Dutch teams, scored one and played well !!
