So lets get this straight, our game with olympic is called off because of the parade in shannon. That is a joke. Why not sunday or monday.there is plenty of time to re-arrange the game.so now newmarket can possibly get further ahead with their game on sunday.
We have to play in Lisdoon on Sunday at 3.30, not ideal, I have to reshedule the lunch I had planned with my mother, as it is Mother's day, and she won't travel to Lisdoon as she hates seafood. We will be missing 7 players on Sunday because their missus/girlfriend's are heading out on the beer and they have the kids. Did anyone think of the mother's of Clare when arranging these games on Mother's day. One of our players has his 4 kids so their 4 mother's can head out. Ridiculous scheduling :)
Is yere game really off because of the parade? We could try and have the parade changed in case Newmarket win another game.
Jesus i forgot about mothers day, cheers for the heads up first.theres no way the game can be re-arranged now.
see both avenue a & b playing this saturday at 4pm would this be to accomodate club to go and support avenue youths 1/4 final in dublin sunday afternoon if so fair play to league but would also wonder if any other clubs would have been so lucky to get both junior games switched to suit them..
Would imagine so, if shannon olympic had a problem with playing this saturday I m sure they could have refused and likewise Rhine rovers. Also big congrats to avenue youths whoe beat Cahir park 4-1 n munster youths semi final. They will now play waterford bohs in the final.
The u17s are in the FAI semi final and the youths are in FAI quarter final over next coule of weeks so alot of big games for the club coming up
Are treaty celtic another shannon club, how many clubs represent the shannon area? I know of hibs, town and olympic.
Ya trick question??? Fellow that plays with meanus told me they were playing in shannon. Thought there was a lot of clubs for a small town
it would be,,
dont know about " being lucky... to suit them" management enquired and thankfully the oppositon could agree to play it on sat,, and it makes it easier for support to follow the young lads in dublin this weekend and again next weekend,, congrats on them reaching the youths final and unlucky to the u/12s beaten on penalties in the q/f of fai as well
A very good game of football was played in Lees Road last night. Avenue 2 Ennis Town Rock 0 but the scoreline is definitely misleading. Some very good football was played by both teams but unfortunately the ref took centre stage. 2 scandalous decisions led to Avenue's first goal and from a neutral point of view it was a most undeserved lead. 2 very bad decisions in sending off a player from each team in separate incidents and then a dodgy penalty in the dying minutes. Its a pity the refs display took away from what was a very entertaining game and Rock can feel very aggrieved at losing. Well done to both sides for trying to play the game in the right manner.
Who was the ref..
so did rock deserve to win then? cos avenue had the better chances overall, rock had one blocked on the line in the first half is all that troubled jon healy, apart from a good few free kicks that he caught every time,, the 2 sendings off were undeserved from where we stood and it tarnished the game , both teams played decent football and it was a good game to look at from neutral point of view
Avenue had only one chance prior to half time bar the 2 goals and both of there goals were due to refereeing mistakes. I dont like criticising refs as they have a tough job but Padraig Sutton had a bad game. Rock had the better chances particularly in the first half but I think both teams would agree a draw would have been a fair result.
It doesnt really matter who deserved to win. Two good footballing sides had a great battle, in the perfect conditions, in front of a large crowd. A great spectacle and promotion for Clare League football. A case can be made for either side winning the game. Its just a pity one of Clares finest refs had an extremely poor game. Its the decision that lead to the first goal that caused the series of errors. A ref often tries to compensate for a potentially bad desision. I feel sorry for the two lads that got sent off. I'm sure they'd much rather the €80 they now owe to the Clare league to go towards Tangy Twisters.
Sutton and the two lads will bounce back from this. Lets hope the cup 1/4 final is as entertaining (without any needless drama). Wouldnt it be super if the league was just starting in March. We'd have it finished in 5 months tops with all the evening games.
Circuspony - Summer Soccer sounds like a good idea but I just wonder what would happen a lot of players given their commitments to GAA. In the majority of cases I cant see players electing to play soccer over Football or Hurling. The league would surely be weakened with the loss of these players.
Re the game the other night, you're correct in saying that the first decision which lead to the first goal started a series of errors and it dominoed from there. Sutton is a good ref and just had an off day but were all entitled to some of those!!
