lads..come on get a grip...ya he has been training with them because he wants to get his fitness up thats it...he hasn't signed...i mean he is singlehandedly running our A-team and is our talisman...i know we aren't doing the best this season but i don't think he is about to jump ship..in fact i know it i spoke to him an hour ago
lets put it to bed
Moher took the lead through after 5 mins. Newtown then woke up and dominated the rest of the game, 1-1 at half time. 2 further goals in 2nd half gave Newtown the 3 points. Moher came back into it for last 10 mins but it was a fairly comfortable win in the end.

And why would that be then?
Congrats to Corofin B who pulled of the shock of the round beating Bridge Celtic. A well deserved victory by all accounts.
Performance of the so-called top teams was interesting this weekend. Just shows that the cup is unpredictable. League champs Bridge Celtic out, Bunratty pushed all the way to pens and very lucky to come out on top, Kildysart had Newmarket on the ropes by all accounts and Newtown hadn't it all their own way in Liscannor.
This trend had been evident over the last couple of years. Do ye think teams rise their game against 'bigger' opposition for these cup games or is it a case of the top teams not giving the competition the respect it deserves?

Newtowns game against moher was league game not cup.
i may be wrong here but newtown played moher in league last sunday as per papa-j post earlier and by his account newtown controlled most of game .. bridge celtic a beaten was a big shock alright.. would agree most teams would raise there game against bigger oposition as they have nothing to lose anyway.. :ball:
Moher B looked impressive against Rienna - only saw a bit of it - 3-1 at the time - dosn't say much for Rienna
I know lad. I was there.
Edited my post,just for you!

, this isnt sky sports and the premiership!!! course the teams are giving the cup the respect it deserves, its not as if they play 2 matches a "week for 3 monts solid an they can rest /rotate players just for " the cup
its just a matter of lower teams tryin to give it there all cos its there cup final, more often then not they can staye the course for 30 or 40 mins but the top teams come thru most of the time
but the cup will always produce shocks
Hacker cool your jets - I was merely making an observation - as I said I only saw 20 mins and that the way it looked - it didn't look like a premier team against a 3rd division team - obviously the loss of players has affected the teams quality - although you did have 4 or 5 players on the bench - was it a case of giving the " weaker " players a chance ?
So Newtown likely to fall away again this year and make a mess of the games in hand, AGAIN?
el nino could prove to be right but newtown did win their first game in hand sunday so you never know...IF newtown do win their 5 games in hand they'd be top or very close but i'd certainly rather to be in newmarket's or avenue's shoes now.their defence hasnt been really solid and i reckon a lack of pace and a bit of class at the back could cost them...
I hope they do go on to make a good go of it in the league this year, I was just asking for opinions from others, this has happened in the last few years with Newtown.
Seem to have hit a nerve there Spudd?
Its not Newtowns fault they have fallen so far behind in games, It is up to them however to make up for them.. I think its slightly unfair to have this pressure on them. Games should be played out in the league as evenly as possible, the difference in games played is a bit unfair. Newtown may have a pile up of games now and maybe when the evenings get brighter will have to play up to 3 games in a week , is this what they get for doin well in the Munster/Fai cups!? This applies for Bunratty aswell as they had a good run in both cups too. Does anyone think there is any solution to this? I'm not making excuses for Newtown or Bunratty I'm just throwing out my opinion on a matter I thought both Newtown and Bunratty might have felt a bit aggrieved about.
Who are you to add your 2 cents about Newtown el nino? Are you even representing a club or are you a park player who has bad blood with an old club?
Anybody got any views on this weekends cup games.Any shocks on the cards?I might be biased but i reckon Kilkishen Celtic could pull it off at Turnpike.Cooraclare are tough at home so lifford could but in for a surprise aswell.Newtown and Kilmaley should also go through.
No I have no bad blood with Newtown at all, I was simply just asking a question on the matter, it may have come across as having a grievance with the club but i definately don't. A lot of my friends are playing for the club and I hope they do go on to take advantage of their games in hand and are in the mix at the end of the season. As to what club i'm associated with has nothing to do with anything :)
quality side !!! - Moher A this weekend - we'll have to see how that goes before nay furhter comments
Don't want to go referee bashing but are there certain clubs that refs would have a dislike to , whether it be historical or personal - and would this influence their thinking in giving decisions - if this is the case should they be " kept away" from these particular games - alot of these refs would have played ball in their hay day against / for these teams and there could be some unfinished business , perhaps this is their way of getting their own back - await your comments
Its part and parcel of the game, giving away a bad decision doesnt just happens in the clare league it happens every weekend in the english premiership so being honest maybe refs do have some grudge against teams, but there always going to deny that they do,if you even try and keep away a few refs, you will have no games at all for this league because no one wants the job of getting abuse on a sunday morning,
