If he has any sense he will use that experience for the good as a manager - he can speak from experience about far away fields and all that. That he lost integrity and it gained him little but notoriety in a mini LoI like version of Thierry Henry where there is a duality in how he is remembered as a player but with that blot of controversy that goes with his career success. He certainly wont make a similar niave error as Foster. There should be a small mention of the PFAI in all this as i doubt Fenn or even Shamrock Rovers were that up to speed on wriggling out of a contract and avoid a transfer fee. I wish him all the best at Longford, for both their long suffering fans and the chance to have him back in Oriel for some more abuse :p

Connolly had been tracked by Dundalk after a fine first season on his return to Ireland with Bray Wanderers in 2016.

Seems a very shrewd signing to me. The sort of signing I've come to expect from Stephen Kenny. Sounds like the kind of player ye'll need against Rosenborg. Kenny will have been looking to get something like what Horgan offered going forward as best he can with funds and talent available.Quote:

Dylan played really well last season, especially in the second half.
This season has been a totally different story - I have seen him in most games this season and his form has been very average. He has not been nearly as big a threat - the questions are - Have defenders copped on to his style? Were his heart and head elsewhere? or is he over-rated?
At times this season he has looked totally disinterested - a totally different story to last season which is a pity. I thought he was one of the best players in the league last season - this season he has deserved to be subbed off regularly. Aaron Greene is playing much better on the wing than him, with a much better work rate and attitude.
I hope he can find his form again as he has the potential to be a very exciting player.
Hasn't lived up to last season in any way, runs with the ball but doesn't look around to give the pass, or he just keeps running and looses the ball. Most disappointed player this year, hopefully kenny can get more out of him..
Was very effective last year when no one copped on how to defend against him, this year different story and has been found out , still has the raw potential to be good player but has done himself no favors on how he manipulated his way out of Bray or was manipulated

Realistically that was never going to happen regardless. The route bia the Europa league qualifiers is just too hard. We could do great, win two round. Then end up against Milan or Everton. Even if we did somehow win a third round tie, there's another tie with even stronger teams before the group stages.
The only real route to the Europa group stages for an LOI team is via the CL
