I think David Lavin was the only one playing football yesterday that plays soccer for Adare? He is their best player and will help keep them organised at the back. Will they collect any points this year I wonder ,its hard to see ?

Draper, I think there is so many other sports out there now and the same fellas are asked to play all of them.
That includes egg chasing ( AKA Rubgy) where you have munster doing well in the last few years and every body in the province jumping on the bandwagon. Its very funny to see certain people donning the red of munster ,I'd like to ask half the rules.Thats one problem I can see anyway, and thats why they have to ask the 14/15 year olds.
I know the 2 Newcastle teams, Broadford, Askeaton and Abbeyfeale are all struggling to fill teams, it doesnt help that the GAA continues till late October. One solution which is 20 years away would be to run the entire Youth league on Friday nights under lights.
I agree with the 20years !!! Just to chnage the subject slightly would anyone agree that the league should make a rule that you cannot be promoted to the premier league unless you have at least a dressing room to tog-out in ? Kildimo springs to mind where if you dont tog out before you arrive at their pitch you are forced to do so in a car.Surely them days are gone and if would force certain clubs to improve their fascilities.I wont say anything about the pitch !! Is there any other club in the entire league that does not have at least a cabin to tog out in ?? Nothing against Kildimo, I'm only wondering.
Really? Not to be offensive but thats a joke if you ask me these big areas cant fill teams and you have smaller clubs such as Creeves, Ferry Rangers, Bally Rovers fielding teams every week. For big clubs such as the ones you named i think it is a very bad showing for the league. The thing about having youths matches friday nights is some players dont finish college til 6 so they wouldnt be able to make the games. About the GAA i agree this weekend alone i know Broadford and Bally Rovers are effected by the GAA because Shannon Gaels(Glin, Ballyhahill) and Drom/Broadford have a Semi final Saturday at 3.30, 1 hour after the youths matches kick off!
Pity to see the youth teams struggling draper, a lot of people putting it down to other sports which is a factor but there not going to change to suit soccer. The Desmond League need to be thinking outside the box here before its to late , what you think
of making it u19's or u20's instead. A lot of players stop playing after youths, this mite encourage more to keep playing for another season or two.
I wuldnt be expecting too much leadership from the league with this , anytime a proposal is made to improve things in the league its shot down from the top table at the AGM
Glin Rovers? Because they have moved temporarily to Ferry Rangers old pitch behind the Lanterns. Not sure if they got portable dressing rooms or anything tho.
Glin Rovers far as I know have portable changing rooms while they are playing at The Lanterns
I agree with you there. The meetings are supposed to be for clubs to put forward ideas. But they are never even considered. The board is back in the dark ages and should be changed. There are 1 or 2 who I wont name, but everyone in the Desmond league knows they only look out for their own clubs. Its all back rubbing, high fives and cosy cartels. A vote was cast to put back the season by a wk at the AGM in July and after a re-count it was decided to have another vote at the next meeting. Can people not count right or what ?
On the youths, its hard to find a solution alright, but very disappointing to see its mostly the big towns/clubs that find it hard to fill teams. Something very wrong about that situation.
We dont have a problem fielding a youths team in Askeaton i would like that to be made CLEAR!!, because what is stated above is incorrect. Also the last 2 weeks in a row we have received walkovers from Broadford. The first match was called off the friday at 3-4 PM, the second match was called off at 1.30 on the saturday with the match due to KO and all our players ready to tog off (some took time off work too). I dont have a problem with broadford at all, but for the love of god the club surely knew that they had 2 county finals both weekends. So getting a phone call on the saturday when we are at the pitch is nothing short of a joke.
Word has it Askeaton only had 9 players for that Broadford fixture? Maybe thats not so, I dont really know but thats the word. Broadford genuinly thaught they could fulfill the fixture despite a county final the day before but the players let them down last minute. Agree its not fair on Askeaton but dealing with 18 year olds is a tough job these days. One thing we're all agreed on I think, its a difficult age...
Anyone know how the Oscar Traynor friendly went last night??
