Which would the Bohs supporters prefer ?

Varies from person to person. Richmond would be easiet for me and I think there is a decent bus service between Phibsboro and Inchicore so that might make the most sense logistically and the pitch in Inchicore is really nice in comparison to any of the other places I've seen mentioned.
Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if RDS was a no go from the start because I think there would be some overlap between Leinster games and bohs games being on Friday nights. Its just somewhere I had heard mentioned as an option
Is there no way Bohs can get some people on the terrace at the shopping centre end to boost crowds for the last season. This would give the place more atmosphere. Even discounted rates for u 15s or let there own kids in free Obviously there is construction work ongoing but they could close it off before the TV gantry. The empty terrace just takes away from the place. It's the same at Drogheda at the housing estate end and Shels at Tolka drumcondra end, both have no room. I fear new Dalymount will be like both of them.
Think the college have rejected it before - though that was for Rovers rather than Bohs. Not sure if that makes a difference!
During 2025 the Design Team will finalize the detailed design of the stadium and will tender the construction works.
The club expects to appoint a building contractor and specialist sub contractors in the fourth quarter of 2025 with works commencing in early 2026.
The design team estimate that the overall stadium works will take 21 months to complete.
The laying of the new pitch will cause the most significant disruption to the continued operation of the stadium as the new grass based pitch installation cannot be done in the off season. The pitch will most likely be unavailable for 4 months mid season and the Club will need to negotiate the rescheduling of home games with the FAI and the other LoI clubs for this period. This is likely to happen in 2026.
In the interim, the club has recently been awarded €376,000 by Government under the Community Facilities Programme to carry out further improvements at the Showgrounds, most notably the final phase of the floodlights on the Treacy Avenue side and the renewal of the astro pitch playing surface. It is intended that these works will be completed in 2025.
And in 2028, in time for the centenary anniversary of the founding of Sligo Rovers, the new era will commence with the full opening of the new Sligo Showgrounds stadium, and we look forward to welcoming our current supporters and attracting new ones as we seek to continue the proud heritage, history and achievements of the Bit O’ Red.
Are Shels worried about boosting Bohs' popularity in the Shels catchment area perhaps? Two years in Santry would be grim.
I saw a comment online that the terraces behind the goals in the redeveloped Dalymount will now include a roof, don't see anything official on this - not sure if this has been reported anywhere?
It's widely reported as a category 3 stadium, I'm wondering if seated capacity is the only thing keeping it from category 4 and whether it's been future-proofed to increase capacity in the future (given the available space probably only by adding a second tier on one side).
Hope this all goes smoothly. I've always enjoyed going to the Showgrounds (pre-match anyway.. the rest is dictated by what happens on the pitch). Will be very exciting when this gets started. Feel like there's still more jeopardy involved in Dalymount than Sligo but hopefully we see diggers on site at both grounds in 2026.
I'll still be sad when old Dalymount gets knocked.
My first time at Dalymount was in early August(?) 1978, when Spurs arrived for a pre-season friendly vs Bohs. It was the first ever game Ardiles and Villa played for them after signing soon after they'd won the World Cup that summer, so huge excitement.
As for the ground itself, I remember thinking it didn't really match up to Windsor, itself no picture postcard venue back then, though that might have been my own youthful bias. I'm pretty sure Windsor's capacity was a few thousand extra, however.
I cant wait to see the plans for the multi-use basketball court that St Olivers Community School in Drogheda got €7.2m allocated for. I can understand why DUFCs new ground didnt get funding yet when looking for €16m, 7.2 is half hearted but Louth GAA were seeking €7m to finsih their funding but were also overlooked. I wont lose sleep over that but its an odd one with groundwork done, stands on site to be erected, County Board with a couple of million in the bank to add to what Croke Park have agreed and supposedly €15m IIP money ringfenced. There must be some pretty big problems or a bunch of messing at local or organisational level not to get this funding over the line considering what has been committed!!!
Good progress made on the Brandywell even since last week!

Precast/prefab really does come together so quickly. I just dont get why some projects would still use poured concrete unless there is someone in the pockets of concrete product providers or builder, not looking at any project in particular. It does beg the question why stands havent come down in price in any significant way and are millions of Euro. Regulations from UEFA I presume on steel based stuctures, not ulike bleachers in the US, should be rlaxed for small venues. Between Tallaght, Sligo now, Derry also, Dalymount and other projects in the works, added to crowds being up and our sides being in European groups semi regularly its is pretty much a wish list from Foot.ie circa 2001 happening. Tbh 25 years for things to happen doesnt even seem that long by usual norms.
Any monies mentioned for Turners Cross?
Get whoever’s building the new Brandywell stand to do the new Dalymount, Showgrounds, Richmond, Drogs stadium and the lot will be done by the start of next season at the rate they’re going :)

Brilliant to see so many grounds improving around the league.
One thing though that it constant, there is no way any one club could have moved forward without capital grant to pay for most / all of it, or for it to be owned by local authority or a football association. Fair play to Sligo for their 16.4M grant, the application I heard was top class, and the late Tommie Gorman helped with it I heard, plus Sligo had a club rep also working in the council, so it was nailed on to succeed, again fair play to them.
Its about time domestic football in this country has started to get serious money in, never sat right with me why the GAA got an almost free stadium built in Croke Park, is there any debt there, I don't think so, plus it was multi millions, dwarfed what Sligo got, 'take the money guys'. The GAA stadium in Cork is in debt but that was due to an over spend.
Sligo have proven to be the template, do your homework correctly, run your house in order, all bills paid, live within your means, and aim high, good luck to them.
Same for Derry who have the unique situation of being able to draw down money from a jurisdiction they are within but don't play games in a competition in, again its just great to see.
Dundalk are in no position to apply for Large Scale Grant given current position, and to be totally frank, its our own fault for spending all euro monies on dominating Irish football from 2014-2020, what is there to show for all of that now, website stats, wiki searches, that's about it.
Could Drogheda's Cup win now be used by the club to persuade Town Planners & local TD's who know doubt have jumped on the 'magic of the Cup' bandwagon, to consider the clubs plans for new stadium plans and facilities!
While, I suppose a win over Bray will also help the club by keeping it's Premiership status also!
Town planners and Drog Corp councillors are not opposed to Drogs stadium, LCC have allocated the land, they just wont fund the development. Why would they when there could be money from central govt. They would be involved in the planning and grant application process. The Drogs stadium is on a reserve list i think if another project doesnt draw down their grant they could step in. It is mad that this could be the case while the GAA County Ground didnt even make the reserve list when a lot of grant money has already been spent and everything needed is on site to build including the stand. Drogs proposal is a greenfield site in the vicinity of what will be new road access from the port area of the town that will run north then west twoard the M1 around the northern fringe of the town, like a inner ring road. It will be a major improvement in providing vehicular access from south to north without having to go through the town, should ease traffic for easier access to the hospital and opens up a large tranche of land fo development northside. I think this is the main reason opening up this land with a new road. All development south of the town is now in Co Meath and has been for years. LCC miss out on planny levy income for ost developments in Drogheda but carry the bulk of the cost of administrating the largest part of the town north of the Boyne roughly. This allows LCC to cash in, and help balance the growth of the town equally on both directions from the town centre. Not pariculrly relevent to the potential stadium but some context especially as past plans for similar areas were rejected with no infrastructure. If there is a pitfall for the stadium plan it will be timing ie will services be in place before the stadium or could it be open but not able to go online, connext to water and sewage et al.
Any club with an ounce of sense should be frantically be engaging project development consultants with this sort of money being bandied about. It is not policy to give to some and not to others as long as applications, plans and execution/commencement is up to scratch and there isnt historical issues. I kind of wondered how Dundalk could be allocated grants for pitch and lights when owing money to revenue as surely a tax compliance cert is needed and if you are not compliant?? When projects get overlooked like Louth GAA there is always a good reason eg builder has history with the tax man and you wait for another round of grants to reapply with a different builder though in Louth GAAs case the gut instinct is the golden passport funding and whether all those have been fulfilled with the 1mil investment each and job provision actually happened. Funnily enough there are many factions making claim and counterclaim and pointing fingers on why things have been problematic. For the smallest county we are miles apart when it coms to commn ground.
Any Bohs fans here? Havent been to Phibsboro, or Ireland at all, for about 8 years. Dalymount was really aging at the time. Now I see you have improved on a couple of stands. So what about the stand behind the goal, towards the city. There was nothing at the time. Any progress there? And, my best wishes to "Mick", lovely ol fella responsible for a car park behind the opposite goal, "the Shed". Bless... and a great club pub run by Bohs supporters, in 2013 or so, I could get a pint of Heineken/Carlsberg for something like 3,20 euro. Can imagine its double that price these days.
The whole ground is being knocked down and redeveloped, with the pitch rotating 90 degrees from its current position. Some pictures of what it’s due to look like here: https://www.newstalk.com/news/pictur...k-like-1641841
2025 is apparently Bohs last year in the current Dalymount before moving out for a few years for redevelopment
