Doubt if it was anywhere near 3,000 - I was down in block F and it always seems like its full from there, but just from the bars before and at half time and the lack of a queue outside, I'd say no more than 2,000. I'm sure if the game had been on Friday it would have been closer to 3,000
Crowd looked very small on the TV definitely nowhere near 3000,
Whats the story with the Waterford figures, the article in The Irish Mail on Sunday had comments from a club official saying recent crowds were as low as 400 ? The Avg given here is around 800 +

After watching the Bohs .v. Cork game on MNS, the crowd was nowhere near 3000. Was a very disappointing crowd infact. I don't know if television coverage may have had something to do with it.
Obviously there was little take up on the 10,000 free admissions offered to DCU Students as a thank you for the use of their facilities
I'd hazzard a guess that there were two factors: One, exam time. Students need to study and those who wouldn't go to a football match anyway, are hardly going to one when they have to study.Quote:

Terrible crowd at the RSC tonight for Waterford United v Athlone,only about 450 there I'd say.
Bad crowd at Oriel too - about 750.

I think it was a bit more, but not much. I was actually able to do a head count on the new stand and counted 294 people in it at kick-off, with a few more still walking around towards it. I'm told there was about 200-and-odd in the old stand, though it looked more to me from up at the back. Something around 500 then as the overall, which seems about right, and is our lowest figure in I don't know how long. :(Quote:

2,600 at Derry V UCD
very poor performance from bray in front of a decent crowd. I would say prob about 1500 at it, 900 in the tent, 350 in the red stand(mostly cork fans) and another 250 behind the goal.
680 watched a very EVEN game at Ferrycarrig Park. Dundalk were good in the 1st half and EVEN better in the 2nd.
Speaking of numbers, I estimate approx slumbering 600 cats in the Wexford area got a right kick in the hole when their dissapointed owners got home from the match

Derby's tend to be your nearest team (though in cities with multiple teams, different factors obviously come into play). Hence Drogheda's derby is Dundalk, not Dublin sides. Being from the same county also adds an additional edge to derbies - even if Drogheda sprawls closer to Dublin than Dundalk, it'l all be about who's the best in Louth. If Coleraine were in the same league as City and Harps, the whole Derry-Harps derby thing would decline a lot in importance.
