Well it's not like we're asking him to play in a support striker role aged 71. Unlike Robson, he hasn't already have health problems (afaik) and so there's no reason to think he couldn't handle the role. Obviously you're going to have his staff (Brady?) in charge of the bulk of training (as the younger Quieroz does for the Ferguson at Man Utd). Even if we get one campaign out of him, he could steady the ship which we desperately need, and who knows if the partnership is a success perhaps Brady could be then take over and keep the continuity? A bit of reverse psychology here: Given how this story has clearly built momentum and given (a) how well it'd be received if true and (b) how much of a let down it'd be of TV got the job and consequently how much derision would be pointed the FAI's way, I suspect that if Trap isn't the man they'd have nipped it in the bud through media sources already today. Instead by calling the meeting they're fuelling this specualtion, setting themselves up to look great if true but disastrous if not.
It sure looks like Delaney made the first official contact unilaterally, probably with Brady involved, by sounding out Trapattoni perhaps.
