If Rovers beat Celje - they are guaranteed Conference group stage?
If Pat's get through the second leg unscathed, what sort of threat are Sabah?
They came a distant 3rd to Qarabag in Azerbaijan, who are very good, so they're nowhere near as good as Qarabag but I'd still assume the top handful of clubs over that way have cash money LOI clubs can only dream of.
They beat Rigas of Latvia 4-1 last season who beat Larne 7-0 this season :D
A credible enough showing from Rovers against a team many level's above LOI.
Delighted to see we at least had some threat in attack,Aaron Greene took his goals very well. Defensively, Rovers are very porous in European competition and there's little to be done about it at this stage so it's more in hope than expectation that we can scrape into the conference league somehow.
The result against Waterford on friday will probably determine the focus for the rest of the season.
A commendable effort and would give you some hope for the next round in Europa, or failing that Conference playoff. They won't play anyone nearly as good as Prague again. Aaron Greene the goalscoring machine was not on my bingo card for 2024 :D
I wouldn't be so confident of that. Looking back at the transfer thread you had Stacey lined up to come in as Pohls back up in the middle of November. Unless you were trying to unload Pohls as well I can't see why you would have anyone else lined up. It seems like your coaching staff truly believed in Pohls and tbh outside of Mannus and Bazunu Rovers have had some stinkers of keepers during Bradley's time. Off the top of my head Colm Horgan, the swedish lad, Chechinski or however it was spelt. IIRC during the Horgan season you played all 3 of your keepers before getting back to Horgan. It could just be that your coaching staff isn't good at judging keepers.
Pohls must be deceiving on the training ground. His shot stopping is usually good. Even last night be made a few top quality stops.
But in real games when the pressure is on he just can’t be trusted. He doesn’t inspire any confidence on crosses and routinely makes awful decisions coming off his line.
I can’t believe Rovers haven’t signed another keeper this summer…
He has very little first team minutes for a player his age, it feels like he's probably been a good lad and excellent in training for years at Rovers, so they decided to give him a chance, this season could be the making of him and he will grow in confidence and learn to be more commanding, but the growing pains are painful. Every now and then he comes for a ball and does well, so he can do it, but he doesn't look like he believes in himself at all and that's half the battle.
Playing is the only way he'll get better, and choosing to be a sub keeper for years has probably harmed him a lot.
Rovers making the group stage and St Pat's making the playoffs will be a good return for what seems like a non vintage year. Non vintage being influenced by Derry's embarassing exit, Rovers not going well in the league and Pat's struggles domestically as well.
You've jinxed it now ;)
Anyone know if the pats away leg is been covered or not?
Slovenia? It's not too bad - about two hours from Zagreb by train for example. Can also get there from Vienna (direct train, albeit longer)
Cliftonville knocked out without much fuss against Auda from Latvia, disastrous European campaign for teams in the Irish League….
It’s being streamed for a tenner via a streaming company Vaduz sorted, not LOITV. Though it will have Oisin Langan on comms who regularly does LOITV commentary

Is their a reason some of the Irish clubs showed their home games on solidsports and not on loi TV?
Shels on it tomorrow where as Rovers were on LOI TV all their games iirc
Partizan Belgrade losing 9-2 to Dynamo Kyiv over 2 legs to continue Serbia’s shocking recent record in European competition….
IIves, remember them?! Gone to penalties in Vienna after finishing 5-5 on agg. Wonder can they win the shootout this time.
And the answer is yes they can. Some win.
Huge pressure on Pat's to get through tonight. Basically need Pat's to go through here and Rovers to get into the group stage for LOI in Europe 24 to not be considered a failure.
We really could do with not losing both games today too for the co-efficient. We are right in the mix for having a Europa League spot in 25/26 but we need to get another 2/3 wins (4-6 draws) to secure that.
Huge pressure????
They are 3-1 up, they are also odds of 4/1 on = (1/4) to qualify so very unlikely they will mess this up, even no away goals added into the mix.
They could even lose by 1 goal (might happen) and still go through, I don't see any risks with them.
That's true, well apart from 2015 - 2020 :D
Magpies take the lead in Copenhagen
That's a bit mental, even if they are 3-0 down from the first leg
Two quick goals for Maccabi against Sabah and the Azeris are hanging on at 4-3. Winners to play Pat's/Vaduz. Frantzdy Pierrot with one of the goals; brother of the Drogheda player
Edit - two more quick goals and it's 4-2 now; 5-4 on aggregate. Four goals in six minutes. 15 minutes left
That Sabah game is nuts. 4-2 now to Maccabi. 3 goals in 3 minutes just after 70th minute. Lots of time left in that one too.
Maccabi equalise in the 90th minute! Do Pats play the winner of that if they make it through?
It was Franz Pierrot's brother aswell!
Question is - will there be one winner of the Pat's tie too? (I mean, obviously there will, but you know what I mean!)
1-0 Vaduz from the spot
Penalty scored by Vaduz I see.
1-1!!
Only one winner in that time :p
That should settle them. Elbouzedi with it - on his debut?
If poor auld pats have to pay 5k for every eejit who wants to show there support for Palestine by waking a flag it could be a very expensive home tie.
sports-10.com/fc-vaduz-v-st-patricks/ game there if anyone dosent want to spend a tenner!
