Wouldn't that apply to Luxembourg and Iceland too though?
I get the feeling - and could be completely wrong - that there's much more investment in coaching and facilities there compared to here

Yeah fair so maybe it is the lack of higher level coaching? Both in terms of developing players and in terms of bringing in new ideas.
Iceland definitely invested more than we ever have. I think I read about Luxembourg when they beat the national team and they'd similarly invested in national academies but also forged stronger links with other leagues to help develop players. But they both had a plan at least where we have none.
That's kind of what I think alright - but that just to be added to Philosophiser's early good list of factors, plus the fact it's only two bad results so no need for panic stations yet.
Though make that 2.5 bad results now, as Dundalk make it to halftime scoreless against Bruno's Magpies
Yeah no need to panic, we also have to remember that it's a cup competition. Bohs and Pats did really well in Europe when they weren't going so well in the league. This season Pats look in fine form and they've struggled. It's hard to know what's going to happen or what to take from a small sample size of results.
Apols again. anywhere to watch, LoITV not shwoing
I saw someone post something on Twitter last week that they thought the Irish League clubs would do better than the LOI clubs. I laughed when I read it. Not so funny now. Crusaders drawing 2-2 away in Finland and the Glens winning in Malta.
Dundalk isn't it?
(Or Bruno's Magpies of course)
Crues playing against ten men in Finland. Dundalk getting close to injury time and still scoreless
Now THAT is an embarrassing result.
Few magpies coming home to roost for the gloating Dundalk fans on here.
Could be time to get the co-efficient beads out. 2015/16 we earned 0.700. Keep this up and we may fail to even get that.
Few comments I can find online suggest Dundalk were the better team but the old Euro failing of sloppy finishing cost them, plus they had to clear off the line too.
Another poor result alright but it sounds like they should finish the job in Oriel at least. Shadows of Drogheda drawing in San Marino all those years ago?
I knew when I heard Johnny Ward saying there was a great chance all the teams would win their first ties they were in bother!
Watching Pats last night, I feared a 1999 style Zimbru thrashing, and it really should have been. Unbelievably lucky to have gotten a goal. I fully expect them to lose or 3 nil in Richmond if they play like the 99 Pats team again next week. Shamrock Rovers? Pitiful. Always abysmally useless every time I've seen them in Europe the last 5 years. The standard bearers ... And as for Dundalk, sweet jesus. A result as crap as their ground. Let's hope Derry can manage not to get unmercifully walloped in the Faeroe islands this evening.
