I saw Town last night lose three nil to Janesboro, it could have been six or seven. I am very worried about Town for the new season. We have signed nobody and lost out on Paul Kennedy. Paul Shanahan is gone to Celtic as has Christy Aylward.
It was time for a change of manager. Mckeever has done well for Town but we need a fresh approach. I predict that Town will win nothing this season.
town will win everything again this year because there is nobody near then again yhis year. St Michaels seem to have been weakend also, Peake villa might be a threat with some players back they will be dark horses, Clonmel Celtic while they have strengthened are still way off. While town and michaels have lost a couple and the other teams have added a few i still think the gap is too big. With that said I'm sure local trophies are the least of the big two's concerns and at this stage its hard to see them win either of the big ones. but you just never know.....
there's more chance of pigs flying than Michael's winning an FAI
Don't know about that as I am not involved with the club and I don't know the man. That said it appears to me that something is seriously wrong and you could be right. Sean Kiely is his assistant and he is Town through and through. Getting McKeever was a master stroke by Town, I don't know how they managed to get him and there is no doubt that he has done wonderfully well but I do believe it was time for a change. I am not joking, they look awful and out of ideas. They are a spent force
nothin like a town fan tryin to talk down their chances. you dont fool us :) . think we will know a lot more after the saints vs villa game at the weekend. heard villa are flying
as i said before town wont win the big competitions but they will still win everything in tipp. I know that wont satisfy them but its more than the rest of the clubs can manage.
Look I am not suggesting that Town will be relegated but they aren't the force they were. I heard today that Tony Davis has retired, mainly because of McKeever. Ian Fraher has also left. There is no doubt that problems exist in the club.
Town have designs on winning the MJC and FAI, they haven't a hope in hell. The whole club is going backwards. Ever since they messed up and got kicked out of the MJC, the club has gone backwards. It is now starting to be reflected on the pitch.
The people in charge of the club need to be removed as well. The likes of Tony Scully, Maurice Walsh, Brian O'Donnell and others have done nothing for the club and it is time that people with talent and fresh ideas come into the club. I have been following this club for over 20 years and I cannot ever remember it being so badly run.
Rant over
I understand what your saying. To be honest though town are still fairly strong. craig condon has signed and although young is still a fine footballer. also simon scully is now with the junior setup another solid player. yes they are young but i remember when they won the fai in 94 they had a good mixture of youth and experience. AND NO i'm not sayin this team is anywhere near that team but i wouldnt rule the munster junior out town are a far better side than leeside who won it this year. Peake villa could put up a serious challenge for the league from what i'm hearing.
Yeah they will still win the league and cup I'd say,at least they can still hang onto nearly all their players from year to year. Michael's wasted a 4 figure sum on signing Mernagh and he didn't last too long with them, an enormous waste which could have been spent on something else more useful I'm sure, there's one thing money can't buy and that's loyalty
Rock Rovers drew 1-1 with Rosegreen tonight. First game of the season
any reports on the games? how was the peake villa - st michaels game?
Very sorry to hear about Cyril Flaherty. condolences from Clonmel Celtic.
any new faces for peake villa?
Only knew the man to see him but yes he was big soccer fan. Really nice tribute to him on the Town webpage
www.clonmeltownfc.com
went to cooke park sunday, definitely no fireworks, few new faces for villa or should i say old faces, ted o connor, padraic fogarty, barry ryan and derek loughnane back from kilkenny,o connor was sent off after 10 minutes, saints should have been out of sight by halftime,in fairness to peake was huge second half and might have won it with 10 men in the end
was donal duggan and david horan playing for peake? they must be pretty good this season. how about st michaels do they have many new players they seem to have lost a few
horan or duggan werent playing sunday, horan wasnt with them last season either, presume duggan was injured but dont think horans with them, they looked a lot stronger than last year, saints kept possession very well tho and look to have some very good youth players coming through
All at Old Brdige FC would like to offer their condolences to Cyril O'Flaherty's family and friends and to all those involved in Clonmel Town on the tragic and untimely death of Cyril on Monday.
He was great football man and gave everything for th TSDL and Clonmel Town over the past number of years.
May he rest in Peace.
Cyril O'Flaherty R.I.P
Old Bridge were very unlucky to lose 2-1 to Town last Sunday in the first league game of the season. The Bridge had to give up home advantage due to problems out of their control but that didn't intimidate The Bridge one bit. The Bridge had 2 new debuts for Tommy Power from Kilmanahan and Emmet Johnson from Clonmel Celtic with Emmet scoring the Bridge goal. The Bridge deserved at least a draw and were furious when Town keeper took down Emmet Johnson in the box in the 2nd half when Emmet was through 1 on 1. The ref waved play on to the shock of the whole complex. The ref said afterwards that he had given the peno he would have had to send the Town keeper off.......so basically he bottled it which most refs do when it comes to Town as they are scared of McKeever and the home crowd. As other people have posted previous Town don't look up to much this year and after Sunday's performance I totally agree. They have a very dodgy defence and if anyone puts it up to them they will crumble.
Was anyone else at this game??
Bridge will definetly stay up this year if they keep their new squad.
who else is in this new oldbridge squad. i taught there squad was alot stronger 2 years ago when they went up both they struggled in the premier which surprised me alot as i taught they would do well. town cant become a bad team overnight. surely they still have the scullys, barnes, dwayne byrnes, aaron moroney etc . these are some of the best players in the tsdl . Anyone know what new signings saint michaels have made. Did they bring a few out from limerick
any results from the midweek games or did they go ahead at all?
saints drew 1-1 with rosegreen was hard to watch, any other results? not surprised to here ref not awarding oldbridge a penalty in the complex,in fairness to peake sunday they might have had a pen at the death, paddy keane was never going to give it
villa beat bansha 5-4..... i heard villa had a few missing so they will be happy with the result..judging on their first two scorelines of the season they will score plenty of goals but will leak at the back.. this will probably cost them a good crack at the league
The Bridge still have the same squad from 2yrs ago along with a few extras to try boost training and make a bit of compettion for places. Whe The Bridge came up 2 yrs ago they only had bare bones of a team of 13 or 14 and training was rare. This year Bridge have 21 lads signed compared to only having 8 players signed 3wks ago. Fair enough the lads that have joined are making up the numbers but Bridge need the squad or they will just go back down.
Am not saying Town are a bad team am just saying they have had a bad pre-season fot the first time ever, they have signed no new players and there was no Aaron, Tony Davis, Stevie Ryan last weekend. Few of lads are getting older but I think they will win league but not as handy as past few years. Won't win FAI tho.
Michaels have had some bad start 2 draws from 2 games. Peake look good tho.
spoke to couple of bansh lads, said peake were at sixes and sevens at the back, cant win the league like that, they were missing o connor, polish guy and barry ryan, saints will still be only challenge to clonmel, rosegreen will get a draw in thurles too
Have to agree, Town very poor. Celtic will beat them next Sunday. Can't see Town winning the league, squad not strong enough. Must say its very unfair that their next four games are away from home. Big changes were needed at the club but those running the club, like Mr Scully, Walsh, O'Donnell and the other dinosaurs at the club won't make tough decisions, they use the club for self promotion.
Its a disgrace how badly the club is being run on and off the field. How McKeever was left in charge is a mystery but one question? Are the above people real Clonmel Town people or are they people using the club for alternative motives? I know I bang on about it but these people should be replaced ASAP!!!
maybe if celtic had everyone available to them for the match on sunday they could have possibly turned town over with the way they are playin at the moment but as it stands celtic will be without 3 possibly 4 and no way do they have the squad to cope with that so it will be town taking all 3 points.
Town Fan??? Are you sure?
I've had a quick trawl through your previous posts and it's becoming increasingly obvious that you are pursuing a personal vendetta against some of the club officers. These are the same people who for years have freely given their time and effort to running this club. If you feel so strongly that the club is being mismanaged then why oh why weren't you standing up in the A.G.M seeking election? Possibly because you're only real joy comes in the denegration of others attempts. Maybe its time to put up or shut up.
What's the story with Galbally does anyone know, after looking at the results section I see they got beaten last night 9-1 in the Shield by Cashel Town,. we played them in the premier last year and I thought they would give the 1st division a good shot.
On another note I feel Town Man should stop dissing his own club, 99% of the other clubs would love to have the same success as Town have had the last number of years but then again he is only one of these people who is too cowardly to say what he has to say in person but has to do it over a computer screen, brave man
would totally have to disagree about galbally,im not one bit surprised they lost 9-1,they are useless, last seasons result in cooke park highlighted the problems saints have and still have, clonmel and peake easily dismissed galbally as they will rosegreen, saints are getting further and further from winning the league,7 years now, thats a disgrace
galbally had very strong squad about 2 years ago when they got promoted to premier, lost 4 or 5 players then last season due to struggling in the premier, this season have lost a further five players due to emmigration and have another 4 of last years starting 11 caught up with the gaa and are not gonna play till thats over.we had 2 of last years squad playing against cashel fri night and one of those went off injured at half time. lot of the lads playing against cashel were our b team so i wouldnt read too much into the result. We will be poor this year but the aim is to stay up and be competitive in the division. many rural clubs would fold after loosing that many players so just gotta try keep the thing going
