i'd give it to brian shelley. seamie is better than powell by a f**kin mile and sammon only scored 6 goals, not exactly prolific but playing in dublin prob makes the difference.
Important point here players who vote in the ballot CANNOT vote for one of their own team mates so that makes the Award more valuable to the winners. Cause their opponents voted for them.
They both do. And Powell is better.
Delighted for him. Nice bloke.
My vote would be Robinson from what I've seen of Drogs and other teams, he's been the top performer.
I haven't seen much of Mooney but scoring 19 goals for a team that finished in the bottom half (on football) is impressive. And if that 19 are all league goals, then that's 19 out of 34 for Longford. Outstanding.
For young player I'd go with Sammon, going on what I've seen.
Agreed he's not the finished article and has some things to work on but what young player doesnt.
I think saying Coleman is "a f*ckin mile better than powell" is complete rubbish.
After all he is an U-21 and U-23 international and deserves a nomination for YPOTY.How many players in this league have achieved two seperate international call ups this season?
As does Sammon, Quigley, Murphy from Rovers and loads of others. Noel Haverty hasn't made his Pats debut yet and has played for the Irish u18s and u19s this year
yeah, went on loan in the Summer window. Big things expected of him. Himself and Eamon Foran (another u10 international) signed 2 year professional contracts last week.
Coleman didn't look too good when he got sent off for trying (unsuccessfully thank the Lord) to break JP Kelly in two earlier this season.
I'd go with Powell - looked impressive when I've seen him play for the National Team (an English friend of mine who'd never seen him play also remarked in a similar fashion when he came on against England a few weeks back)
Correct me if I am wrong but usually YPOTY is confined to those who have made a breakthrough this season and have cemented a place in their side.Powell has done exactly that this year.
Funny if Coleman and Powell were both playing regularly for the one U21 international team which I dont think they were.Powell is an U21 regular while Coleman is not.
He's not nominated...
