"Drogs" makes me puke blood through my eyes every time I read it and defecate through my ears every time I hear it. Such an ignorant Anglo nickname. "That's a fahnny name for a tahn, Paddy -- Droggidawh?"

I never liked names like the Supersaints or the Thoroughbreds. They are so smug and false.
Usually, the media call Galway United "the westernerers" and Cork City are "the Leesiders".
Most people refer to Bohmeians as "Bohs" (and not the Gypsies) and to Shelbourne as "Shels" (not the Reds) and St Patricks Athletic as "Pat's" (not the Supersaints)
At the risk of being tarnished as anti-Sligo, I have never heard anyone speak the words "Bit O'Red"; I have been to many games in Sligo and know a few of their fans. However, it is totally unique and unmistakeable. Can we modernise it and call them the Red Bits from here on?
The camogie team are actually the Tribeswomen or Tribes"chicks" as ye seem to call them up there.
And don't forget the lady footballers, they are the Tribesmen too, and the handball team. We've no imagination down here. Still, its better than the one ye have with Bit O Red. Or is that Bitter Reds? Red Bits? Are ye all Commies, or have ye some terrible genital infections?
Are Dundalk not the Lilywhites? Is Duns not just a Sun abbreviation?
Will the Sun start calling us the Bras now?
To be fair - if Sligo are looking for a new nickname they could take a leaf out of Kildare County's book.
"The Inbreds" has a ring of truth to it imo
Holidaysong
'We're also the Railwaymen - not used as much these days though. Duns is a Sun abbreviation but I've heard at least 2 Dundalk supporters use it.. '
And surely they received a prompt slap across the chops?
Superfrank, you tempt me to much with your suggestion, bras and all that. No laughing matter though, they just might! Would be great fun in October, I canm picture the heading now
'Gals travel east for meeting with bras' lol
You're getting Worcester confused with Hull, Sheffield, Gloucester or the County Town of Doigiveafeck.
No slums round our place - they were all torn down in the regeneration of the City in 1959.
Only places flooded to any extent in Worcester were the Racecourse, a couple of Riverside pubs, the Cricket Ground and some new high cost appartment blocks.
I'd stick to doing what you do best RF - posting links to non-existent Wikipedia pages... :D
The ****e linking curse strikes again! :D
That is being done in Herefordshire - which is a totally different county to the one Worcester is in (co-incidentally called Worcestershire)
We're more well known for stuff like what this bloke produced: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elgar
The counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire split into their proper entities some 35 years ago.
:D
I like our nickname it's original. I thought Dundalk's was the "Lilywhites" which one is their official nickname Railwaymen or Lilywhites? Galway Utds is just a cheap rip off from the gah trying to jump on the bandwagon and don't get me started with the Gaillimh in their crest
Heres a link for you http://www.hoganstand.com/Sligo/Arti....aspx?ID=81842 :o:o:o
My point, RF is that your pathetic attempts to brown nose your local GAA ended with them farting in your face.:o Shouldn't you be doing something better with your time like getting Noel Mooney down to do your CPOs job :o We've obviously hit a sore spot with your crap nickname
Your posts are the equivalent of of stray dog getting into a house and crapping all over the place. Now wheres my pooper scooper:mad:Quote:

I would just like to emphasise that Rocket Fingers does not represent Sligo Rovers FC or its fans, so please LOI fans be mercyfull in your judgement of us. I have never read through so many cringe worthy posts in all my life, It has even mellowed my will to counter the ****e the krustys were spouting.
Anyway, Reiteoir, your a funny guy with the cheeky little word play you did with that Inbred thing, it indeed was very funny. But for an englishman those jokes are getting repatative, you have only been brandishing us with that for the past 700 years.
As for the galway fans, I dont want to stir more of the proverbial, but please calm yourselves down, your throwing your weight around like you've won two games at home or something.
As for the Bigots refuseing to come to the showgies, I couldnt have been any happier, they dont deserve to grace its soil. For the uninformed, it was to smooth relations between bogball and football representatives in the town, its fairly divided. Sligos GAA establishment is 1 of Irelands most bigoted.
Da Bit'O'Red originates from our colours (obviously) and the sligo town accent.
And tbh i dont really like the nickname, isnt my cup of tea. I like the original and unique nicknames, but do really dislike the GAA inspired nicknames.
As for the topic,
Best - Gypsies (its original)
Worst - Undecided, so many woefull ones out there.
I must reiterate my apologies for Rocket Fingers, he doesnt speak for all of us.
I dont even know you, TF. But im glad that you have actually decided to make an away game and I did nothing to embaress my club. I dont recall you walking over half of sligo putting flyers into houses a few weeks ago?? Your more concerned spouting you crap on here, and if you do know me, come up to me at the Derry game and say all your wisdom to my face, and dont be such a ****ing keyboard warrior.
Mods- Lock this f**ing s**te thread please!
