This sounds like a daft plan, how the hell can you enforce it, the majority of people at matches swear do you kick them all out!
Although I suppose it is a good reflection on the behaviour of EL fans when the worst thing the authorities have to worry about is fans swearing!
Not once have i seen a travelling family to away games......The cootes are always there....So they are ****ed off with us,and will **** most of us out and yet if we didnt go to away games, there would not be any fans there!
i disagree here. you probably, like me, make a concious effort not to swear when speaking to these people (although i don't think i have met your grandmother). when i am talking freely to friends and family i swear quite a bit. even more so at football matches. i don't think i'm am trying to appear more 'laddish' - it's just how i speak. therefore, quite the opposite from your post, i feel that i do use swear words impulseivly and am restraining myself from swearing at other times.
i use the word fcuk fairly often when i speak as i use it to emphasise certain things.
eg:
i haven't a notion of going to your work do.
i haven't a fcuking notion of going to your poxy work do. ;)
I think theres a major difference between shouting at the players and the ref every two seconds saying fcuk u, fcuk this and roaring and shouting abuse at every move of a certain player and having a song with a bad word in it and saying come on lads for fcuksake!! its the first example that the club is trying to get rid of id say!! I dont see the problem its only a f.ucking word and many people say it when they are passionate about something!! The FAI will just get rid of the proper passionate fans who add a bit of an atmosphere to the EL matches!!
Well from what I hear the use of the word "w*nker" will have you removed from the ground. Bit extreme in my opinion
They'd be better off removing the w@nkers(themselves) from the ground.
Certain chants are part and parcel of football, LOI clubs would be better served by trying to attract new supporters not alienating the small numbers already coming through the turnstiles.
Sorry to hear about the Athlone "Cootes" supporters club giving up. From what I could see last season at Dubarry Park the Cootes lads were the only proper football people there. The stewards, cops, and schoolies had no business at a football game.
It's ironic that we're berating clubs for banning foul language when we're censored on this forum from swearing properly and have to resort to "fcuk" - "b*******".
Maybe we should make an example here and allow the language since i doubt families gather around the computer to read this site.
Looks as though the club would like to turn the stadium into a creche,we cant expect to get into the premier league with 300 children and parents at a mtch!
Lads, I was up in athlone about a month ago for the Athlone v Limerick37 match and I thought the set-up there is top-class!! It was probably the friendliest and safest stadium I have been in!! As Battery Rover said something good might come out of this if it attracts more fans and im sure the real fans could be given thier own section where they can say what they want!! Maybe the only problem was the abuisive behaviour towards your own players and refrees!! :ball:
Its all ******s;)
Good recital of The Man don't give a FnCK by SFA or Kyles Ma is a Big Fat B1TCH from southpark would go down well.
When did they start with this nonsense??
Are you sure it's not a load of old bluster.
I swore like a platoon the last time I was up there and no one said a word

Gone for good? Yeah? :confused::mad:
considering that the eL doesn't 'enjoy' the same amount of family/daytripper/tourist supporters as clubs in england the hard-core supporter should be free to roam the paddock instead of being confined to a stand/section. it's is the familys/those who couldn't let their fine young child hear obsenities that need to be put in their own ultra sanitised section.
not critising you here but you know what i mean.
Ya fair enough ur point is a bit better but u no what i mean!! the real fans should be allowed to say whatever they want!! And trust me if Jackman Park is anything to go by, its the kids that do most of the cursing and no one cares 2 be honest!! I cant really imagine some family complaing about bad lanague at a match!! Its what makes the game in Ireland so great!! we are (were in Athlone's case) treated like real fans and not customers!! Its looks like Athlone do not care who comes through the gate as long as they make money!! I can maybe understand that u could get in trouble for constenly abusing your own player but theres nothing wrong with letting out a passionate ****-sake now and again!! Anyways I just hope it all works out for Athlone, I truely enjoyed myself up there at the Limerick match and its sad to see it come to this!!:confused:
from knowing one of the mad as cootes from going to college with him( ala ash!) im sorry to hear that they have disbanded and it is a very extreme severe form of censorship by the committee. i really hope things work out for ye guys. i know personally how much hard work it takes to get a atmosphere goin. We at section o have had problems galore in the past from certain committee members its just not on!
