Shels?:D

I'd say himself and Sean Conner would have been better off in the others job.
Pat for Glentoran :D
As the Big Ian would say(or used to)
NEVER NEVER NEVER!! :D
Pat for Athlone!
Vacancy may be opening soon ...
So let me get this straight. A successful team playing good football instantly became an unsuccessful one playing muck, despite having a core of the same players across both periods. Pat Fenlon was the man who was in charge across this lightening-fast transformation - yet he bears no blame at all, and it's all just the club's fault....?
And what is the wrong choice of club for Pat anyway ? One that is already quite successful and where he can't throw money around to buy further success ?
I don't know which is funnier - your belief that Pat is a footballing genius scuppered in his choice of club, or your view that he would have been interested in Sligo for anything other than taking a dump on his way through to Galway....
Hands off 'not so fat anymore' Pat everyone! He's very commited to building a successful team in Wexford. After all in 2 years time Wallace is likely to hand over the team and a sizeable budget to him. And this team will be playing in one of the best stadiums in the country. So go and do a running jump the lot of ye :p
Some times some managers are just not suited with some teams.
Maybe the problem is Derry City overachieved? Although I'm not saying for one second that you are at your level, because your certainly a top 4 club. But maybe just not a legitimate challanger to the league title?
Obviously you'll disagree but as you say it is the same set of players, who are not doing the job, so maybe last season was a slight overacheivement. The Liverpool of Eircom League football if you like.
Bizarre then that you celebrate like loons when you get a result against a bunch of overachievers.
Losing out on the League 2 years on the trot would indicate that we weren't overachieving. Also whist we had a bad spell in the early part of the decade, our record is fairly impressive over the past 2 decades in the EL.
You talking to O Halloran?;) He hates living in the goldfish bowl. I thought he would have experienced similiar at Cork.
They've underestimated what it's like coming to play for Derry. They think it's a regional club and then when they get here, the passion hits them right up the beak. Fenlon couldn't handle his family living here in that environment.
We celebrated like loons when we pulled back from behind against Glenavon away as well last season. What's your point?
When your 2 nil behind, no possibility of getting back into the game and then somehow do, you celebrate. Maybe that's lost with you I don't know. But it is hardly relevent to my comment.
Also my observation came from teh fact, 2 or 3 years prior to season before last you where struggling then all of a sudden you where at the top.
I am not saying you are over achieving drastically, just that your not quite as good as Drogheda/Cork and Previously Shelbourne.
Why go on the defensive all the time? Just give your opinion and be done with it. I'm not trying to argue, just making an observation, if you disagree fair enough, but it's my opinion.
You make valid points, but don't forget Drogheda have achieved nothing of merit league wise, like us. They were traditionally a bottom 6 team until recent investments. In comparison, we have amassed more points than any other team over the past 2 seasons. As a club, I believe we are similiar in stature with Cork. Shelbourne? Oh previous Shelbourne - like Finn Harps - guaranteed results against them every time.:)
have it on good authority he was having serious problems with the langauge barrier
A good few of them live in Donegal, Stephen Kenny did as well when he was manager.
Its uninformed WUM-esque posts like this that rag my hole. I appreciate your EL interest is recent, but we've as many League titles as Cork and two more than Drogheda.
And a bucket load more cups.
Shels were muck until the 90's, but that particularly house of cards appears to have collapsed.
Nobody has a divine right to be a "big club", we've had quite a few seasons in the doldrums a few years back, but clubs rarely come to the Brandywell expecting 3 points.
Well I'm not intendint to Wind anyone up. Just giving my opinion and unfortunately for many it isn't what they like hearing.
But then IMO there is no point in having message boards like Foot.ie and Irishleagueforums.net if you cannot give your opinion.
My point about other teams being that bit better was about about teams in the last few seasons who have just nipped ahead of you over the finish line. This season I think Drogs are too strong and will win the league.
Last season Shelbourne just pipped you and the season before Cork City(if I remember correctly) just got there.
Before that(correctly if I am wrong) you where flirting with relegation and where at best mid table and had to play a few friendlies etc because you where on the brink of extinction??
My God - you're right RT ! We had our shot and blew it ! We're doomed, do you hear, DOOMEDDD !!!!!!
Meanwhile - back on planet earth, DCFC will continue to do what all other football clubs in history have done. That is - have form that alternates over time. And doubtless we'll go back to/continue that thing that only a few clubs in history do - win things more than oncve in a blue moon. Unlike Sligo...
Your posts have often tended to sugest you are clueless about a lot of things you speak about, but I didn't realsie you'd gone the whole hog and got the badge and T-Shirt to confirm it and tell the whole world......!
Still - you do make me smile..... :D
Steve, I think that he is now aware of the fact that players live close by, given previous responses. I don't think there is any need for the aloof patrionising tone you have taken.
Great news if hes gone because he was half yer problem with his style of play.
Alan Mathews for Derry
Pat Fenlon for Glentoran
Still at least Fenlon left Derry with 2 sub keepers and Peter Hynes...
I'll be really surprised if Felix isn't offered the job.
Serious question: If a Derryman lives in Donegal - is a greyhound or a sheep lover? ;)
So-called director? It's well-known on our forum who BARD is and he sure as hell knows a lot more about player contracts at Bohs than some upstart from Sligo.
And of course he'd know what Darren Mansaram is on and while he mightn't know the exact figure off the top of his head, he'd know for sure that it's considerably less than the figure you mentioned.
As for our budget? It's public knowledge that our Hon. Sec. mentioned at the Seán Connor press conference at the start of the season that we were increasing the budget by 50%, so it doesn't take Einstein to figure out what our approximate budget is for this season.
As for Nutsy... well, you may or may not remember that I wasn't 100% convinced that Connor was the right man for the job at the time of him being appointment and that my preferred option was Pat Fenlon. I remain unconvinced, but the chances of him being ousted in favour of Pat Fenlon in the near future are slim to say the least.
I see Irelands most fickle fans have managed to drive another manager away.
Whats that now, six in six years.
For shame - if it was anybody else they (we) would be getting crucified here.
