Its ok but Parental discrtion iz advised! :D
Best songs of 2006, off the top of me head, are:
The Flaming Lips - It Overtakes Me
Muse - Starlight
The Motorettes - I Am Blisters I Am
Herculean - The Good The Bad And The Queen
Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks
Faithless - Bombs
And as for that Thom woman; not the worst song of 2006, the worst song ever sung by anyone in the history of the world ever. By several orders of magnitude.
I quite liked the Lily Allen ditty - very summertime.
Other than that, anything from either Belle & Sebastian's or Easy Star All-Star's albums.
I haven't bought much else 2006 stuff, so I can't really comment.
I would say that Snow Patrol song is drivvel, but I wouldn't like to upset anyone.
ha ha Stann...that brings pleasing images to my mind!
Sorry Lim til I die if have let u down but I love that song flame, tis the lyrics u see, am an ould rosemantic.
There has been very little to excite the musical palate this year.
Ok on the Snow Patrol issue, I plead guilty but am emotionally linked to that song and it reminds me of the best thing that has happened to me this year so am gonna vote it number 1.
In fairness, ltid, in the context of 2006 what good lyrics have Therapy had?
Best Irish lyrics ever is surely a different topic altogether.
Now, back to knocking 2006 Irish bands...
[QUOTE=Lim till i die;583061]Allow me I've no such qualms.......
That Snow Patrol song is DRIVEL!!!
Your welcome :)[/QUOTE
I plead guilty, its a great song but some of the album is woeful.
I don't plaed anything.
It's a great song-end of.
Therapy? released an LP (their 11th) 'One Cure Fits All' last spring.
It was largely ignored in this country as we were all busy championing Bell X1's tonight Matthew I'm David Byrne carry on as some inciteful re-evaluation of the zeitgeist of the proto-punk new wave movement in it's most furtive form. That instead of laughing at them for chasing their tails and the plaudits of the music press while getting heavily splintered arses from excessive bandwagon jumping.
If madchester was 'back' tomorrow they'd be the first doing the 'Bez stomp'. It's all a bit disgusting really.
I'd say "Its's not -end of" but for the fact you can always tell when someone isn't up for backing it up or packing it up when they end their quip with "end of" ...now.Quote:

Its the kind of song i probably know all the words to and sing along to it in a pub or in the car but would never choose to put it on myself . which is strange.
coudn't think of it earlier...C'Mon C'Mon by the Von Bondies is another up there....from the lifestyle sports add.Lifestyle have had some great tunes for their ads to be fair to them...

Really? I had no idea. And not because is was all Bellexed up last spring.
Then again, was never much of a fan, even though I got to hear plenty of their early stuff in college.
C'mon C'mon has been out for a couple of years AFAIK.
Have to say that I cant think of one half decent song that was released this year ???
I was about to try and be positive and say 'Hey Man' by Eels ...but I just checked and it was released in May 2005. So I'm still waiting on a single, solitary remarkable song to emerge from 2006 -and as Christmas is upon us it's looking more and more likely to be Slades 'Merry Christmas (Everybodys Having Fun)'.:)
If you haven't check out TV on the Radio. One of the most original if not the most original band around right now.
I hadn't looked at this thread until now as I couldn't think of anything worth nominating. It's just occurred to me that I haven't bought a single album released this year. Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Gold Lion was good, thought it was more than a year ago though.
Oh, Therapy? are $hite too.
Can't think of ANY good singles really. The new AFI single is lodged in my head. And the singles from the newest Taking Back Sunday album. Also, the solo singles from James Dean Bradfield were alright.
On a seperate note, the new ...…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead album is class.

Actually LTID...I do like the Frames, but also the Pixies, Stone Roses and was grinding my teeth to Therapy? before u had any teeth to grind!
Richie Kavanagh's "Podge and Rodge song" :p.
Can't find it online yet but I'm sure it'll be on YouTube soon enough.
