Quite a handy ground for Northern fans. The Luas tram from Connolly Station has a stop within 10 mins of the ground I think (name of stop?). Probably 30 mins max on the tram.

GoldenBridge or Drimnagh luas stops would leave u a 2 min walk from the ground
Total crap .There were more people from Drogheda there than cork.I wont call them fans because most of them couldnt find united park if they tried, but the club sold more tickets than cork did .IN fairness its only an hour up the road and cork is bloody miles away so its no big deal . " 3,000 neutrals " where did this come from ?
That's the very first mention of Droigs selling more tickets than Cork that I've ever heard. I'm fairly sure the post-match analysis on here from the time stated the crowd split as being roughly what I said.
Also - being in the East Upper gave me a good birds-eye view of the Drogs and Cork sections, as well as the ability to judge the mix of people around me. It would've been difficult to get such an overview if you were stuck in one or other fans' section
Drogs released official figures last year. We sold 13,100 tickets (one third of the town were in Lansdowne that day). Cork sold about 11,500 and there were about 400 neutrals. What was deceptive about the Drogs crowd was we had the south terrace with a lot of people standing. For the Setanta final we sold something like 5,700

I have asked this question before, and I worked last year with someone who lived in Drogheda and had never been to United Park, but went to the Cup Final, how many of these bandwaggoners went to a League game this season?
Drogheda United, to be fair, were a better side League wise this season.
Winning at home most of the time, ideal for a bandwaggoner to toddle along and watch even 1 game.
Setanta is a tv competition so the orgainisers want teams with good grounds & decent crowds to put up a tv show. Theres a reason why they showed so many games from Turners Cross last season. United park didn't have any live games as poor ground for tv access.
Well some of the portadown supporters that come to drogheda matches wouldn't anyway!! Even sing about drink driver and all that when theyre down!
David, Cork would bring fcuk all to setanta cup away matches!! Pats have a far more loyal away following over the years
Not many - but the fact that united park is a sh!thole and not ideal for familes probably had alot to do with it! (even though I love the place, always creates a good atmosphere with away fans, a proper terraced football ground!!) Our new stadium will hopefully sort all that out!
Playing on a Sunday night/Friday evening doesnt help. We have jobs
Oh and when the time was convienent the Saturday game last year we took a good 150 up.
Either way argue it out pretty much everybody up North and down here wants Cork in.
Suits us fine 'No one likes we dont care'
It's the same for Cork fans though ! Worse in fact, as they have further to travel, yet they still do so in greater numbers than Pats - contrary to what Cosmo is suggesting.
Anyways - if you think travelling from Dublin to Derry for a Friday game once or twice a season is a pain, try doing a similar version in reverse pretty much every other Friday night  . Doesn't stop Derry fans though.... :D
For atomsphere, football quality & good crowds home & away best eL teams to partake would be Derry City, Cork City, Shamrock Rovers (maybe a security concern?) & Drogheda (can't believe i suggested that).
Very true - which knackers the assertion that Pats would bring more fans to Setanta games even more.... :D
Our nearest away league game is currently Sligo - about 2 hrs on a bus each way, without stops. Our fans therefore have to do that journey or much further every other week, and they do it. What part of those facts do you not agree with ?
As for our fans always being around - it's for a variety of reasons. Some are students, some work flexible hours, some are self-employed, some are unemployed, some are based in the Republic etc, whilst many just use their holiday time to follow City. But most imporatnly, all are committed. Also - when you've got one of the largest fan bases in Ireland, it's not hard to always have a percentage who can make any given game..... :D
Aye I do agree but how many would travel if there team was as poor as we've been since 2001 on the road especially :(
Committed as you are I think the fact you are so isolated adds to both your supports a bit like clubs in the North of England who travel in larger numbers then there counterparts in the south. Its also your decision to be in this league and take all punishing trips but we wont go into that.
Either way it will be decided on cup final day and may Pats win :p
It's only in the last 2 years that we stopped being pooere than you !
Having lived in the north-east of England and watched a lot of football there, I can assure you that that is a myth. Newcastle fans travel well, but that's because it's a massive soccer town and they're the only show there is. Beyond that, travelling support is poor ior at best not spectacular. Sunderland fans are very fickle (teir new found Irish support will feel very at home there... ) - they've been struggling to get good crowds to the Stadium of Light for the last few years, let alone have many travelling. Boro have a small but comitted away support. Darlington, Carlisle, Blackpool, Preston, York etc - all fairly isolated Northern towns, none with big travelling support.
Anwyays - hopefully Pat's will do their bit to make the Cup Final a decent spectacle by strolling across town in sizeable numbers Sunday week.
Corks away crowds in the setanta cup were pure sh!te (also take out the corkies living in dublin and they'd have had a couple of people at their away matches). Not slagging them over it - its just a fact- as its tough heading up for setanta mid week matches when ye probably have to save some annual leave for league, europe, fai cup, etc
I reckon pats would bring more than them to away matches in northern ireland first for the novelty of the setanta cup and also they dont have that far to travel really!
While I'd love an away trip up north, I couldn't see us bringing that many midweek, even allowing for the novelty factor. Sligo away in the Cup last year had an element of novelty to it, them having been First Division for a while at that stage, and even though you'd think the Saturday timing would make it easier for people to travel, we didn't bring half as many as we should've.
For some bizarre reason, I reckon Waterford away has been the outside-Dublin game we've brought most to in the last couple of years.
Oh, and Forza, TonyD & co, please get back on-message. We won't win the Cup - after all this time, it'd be simply unPatslike of us. Hope the Cork fans enjoy themselves in the Setanta. :(
I always like going to Pats. It's not the biggest or most glamorous ground by any stretch, but it has a great vibe to it.
Not sure what the seating arrangements would be, but in the unlikely event that Linfield ended up in the main stand, be advised that you should seek out shrinking pills in your local pharmacy before travelling.
Does anyone know what time the draw is at on Thursday?
I do. 1615 and we're in it! :D
Here is the t-shirt which was born out of a conversation with Derry fans yesterday, about visiting IL grounds.
