nshoop and his attitude = "no-one likes us we don't care" while every other poster views it as "please hate Rovers, we need attention here, please just some feckin hate, WE STILL EXIST"
I can't ever remember having home attendances of 600 but you would obviously know better. I do envy your club of the people and how they were going to sue Ollie for wild accusations but then, oh yeah, who's pockets are you filling this year?
A Sham :D giving us abuse about bandwagon doesn't merit a response but then again I am envious of the crowds of 10,000+ you got when every taxi driver in Dublin went down to Milltown/car park. Where are those boyos now?
Any idea when the schools start back so we can get rid of the idiocy?
I think everyone would gladly take home to Athlone.
Eh any word of when the draw is?
Dublinharp, do you really expect us, or anyone, to tell you when the draw for the cup is? If we did that, people might know about it. The papers might cover it. It could even be considered promoting the game. Shame on you all of for even asking!
And by the way, Dundalk are the bestest supported team in Ireland ever ever...FACT (see, I wrote it in capital letters, so it has to be true). Has any other Irish club played in front of 100,000? Thought not! ;-)
Although they do have there problems i do believe Shamrock Rovers are the best fans in the league.
Start a new thread if you like but no more stoopid arguements over who ahs the bigger/better fans. Don't have me to tap the sign...
This thread is about the draw only...
In 1990 charliesboots. PLayed National team and league champions. Drew with national side 0-0 in front of 100,000, lost 2-0 to national side in front of 80,000.
If someone does the double, the Cup runners-up get into Europe.
If the league runners-up win the Cup, they are deemed to qualify for Europe through the Cup, not the league (as it's higher seeded in UEFA's eyes), so the extra UEFA spot would go to third in the league, and the InterToto spot to fourth.
UCD played some of those mad Asian teams too - Jordan, China, etc - might have been a big crowd at some of them. CTID would know, I'd imagine.
Spoke to a very pleasant man called Andy in the FAI.
The draw will take place during the week beginning Monday September 4th and is provisionally set for Wednesday September 6th. That date is subject to change depending on the availability of those chosen to do the draw. It will be screened live on the RTE 6.1 news.
The 1/4 final fixtures will take place during the weekend of Friday September 29th - Sunday October 1st.
Two of the fixtures will be screened live on TG4, the first on the Friday night and the second on the Saturday night.
Yeah - he was effectively saying - I hope we avoid Derry until the final coz we haven't a chance of beating them at the moment!
I guess it's fair enough though, they're on an unbelievable run for the last year and a half (not sure it can be classified as a run anymore)
Their only losses have been last minute away at Shels, away at Rovers, last minute away at Cork on the last day and last minute away at Cork in the cup.
When was the last time they lost in the Brandywell anyone know?
who are the teams left in the quarter final draw?
When they lost to Waterford at home last October.Quote:

Next week, according to the FAI. It's in there somewhere! Either Monday or Wednesday.
Do you have a link for the Cup runners-up not getting into Europe? I read about it on some Scottish clubs' MB when Gretna were embarrassing their league, but someone said that that had been rescinded...?
The Bert Kassies forum is down.
According to wikipedia: " If a team qualifies for European competition through both winning a cup and league placing, the "spare" UEFA Cup place will go to either the cup runners-up or the highest placed league team which has not already qualified for European competition, depending on the rules of the national association."
The main Bert Kassies page says: "If the cup winner of a country also qualifies for the Champions League, then the losing team of the cup final is qualified for the UEFA Cup."
Either they're not up to date or it was recinded. I could have sworn they had passed it that cup runners up wouldn't get in anymore.

This article in the Scotsman paper in March related to Gretna's cup run would suggest that UEFA agreed to cancel the cup runners up spot before the end of last season and only agreed to hold it off until this season as it would have been unfair to teams who had already qualified for Europe. Confusing stuff.
Me saving from you again, but you being happy because at least you blasted the rebound hig into the net! :D
That sounds about right. Haven't heard anything from the FAI on it. It's all dependent, of course, on Derry winning the league and getting to the final. Anything else and it's academic.Quote:
