So, was yesterday's result sounded much tighter than expected. Bunratty didn't suffer too badly after the previous weekend's wedding celebrations then or did they? Who scored the goals? match report? Any other Clare league results in FAI?
It was an alright game with plenty of chances for both sides. First half Newtown could have scored a couple with Cheeky going close but couldn't find the net. Derek Burnes had a great chance to score with nearly an open goal but somehow he side footed the ball off one of the Bunratty defenders and the ball was cleared to safety. Cheeky McDonald opened the scoring in the first half to put the visitors 1 up at the break.
In the second half Bunratty then had all the chances. Bunratty right midfielder "don't know his name" was left unmarked, he received the ball and headed towards goal, he took his shot but Skinny made a great save to deny him a goal. Pa Twomey had another good chance for Bunratty when he raced onto a tru ball but again Skinny in the Newtown goal just did enough by narrowing the strikers angle which resulted in Twomey shooting wide of the goal. The bunratty goal came from a low ball into the Newtown box,Newtown defender sliced his clearence and Trevor Twomey was on hand to blast the ball into the roof of the net.........1-1 after 90 mins
Extra time was needed to settle this game and it was settled in some style i must say. Cheeky McDonald scored an absolute cracker "something like Henry would score". He received the ball from the right wing with 2 Bunratty defenders on his back. He backheeled the ball and turned at same time and left the 2 defenders for dead and with Whellan in the Bunratty goal racing off his line he passed the ball into the back of the net much to the delight of the Newtown contingent.:ball:
Final score Bunratty 1 Newtown 2

Hi,
Apologies if there is a thread for this elsewhere but could anyone tell me of a website where I could see all the latest results for the Statoil Junior Cup? The FAI one is not really updated as far as I can see!!
Valley Rovers have withdrawn from the Statoil FAI Junior Cup in protest of the Corrib Gas issue. Valley Rovers are based in the area of the proposed terminal for Corrib Gas.
Not too many picture-book ties at the weekend in Limerick... The tie of the round seems to be Granville vs Aisling Annacotty..Two decent teams who have had good runs in the competition over the past few seasons..Might be making my way over to Glenbrook for that one..The Balla v Star Rvs game could be interesting also.
theres afew ex balla with star aswell it just might aad a couple of tasty tackles to the match.i think balla will have to much for star though
Any info on Inter Kenmare lads? We play them sun in FAI
They have been pretty bad these last few years not sure how strong they are this year. Have decent pitch though..
FAI Junior Cup R.2: S&F United 0-3 Westport United (O'Connor, Cameron, Scahill (pen)).
Tough match and pitch made it difficult to play football, glad to get the result in the end!

great to see Michaels out again after all the mouthin they do around the county bout how good they are this year. Seems a team littered with current and ex internationals won't win ya the important games if ya have no one to put the ball in the net at the other end. Peake look strong lets hope it continues for the year though!!
star are finding it tough.what you think is the problem?
