CCFC spitting 'fans': i guessed there were verbals being thrown when I saw the crowd near the tunnel, didn't see anyone spitting, but enough people have said that it's clear on the TV pictures, I personally thought McKeon had a mare, but if anyone can be identified from the TV pictures, they should be banned from EL grounds for the rest of the season.
CCFC players: Gamble's card was rescinded, he did nothing wrong, Danny was red-carded and will rightly serve a ban for his actions. Behan left the leg in at one stage alright, I think he was booked though, George was rightly booked for his challenge.
Stewards: There was one idiot steward in particular who, if it hadn't been for the actions of a poster on here could have gotten a slap. They handled the end of the game badly IMO.
Drogs fans: There was a section at the back of the ballybough and nearest the ballybough of the main stand who really made an effort though the sound didn't travel. the rest were quiet, bar when George messed up and for five minutes when they scored.
Drogs players: Gavin led with the elbow every single time he jumped and another ref would have sent him off, after being booked he connected with Behan's head at least twice and O'Donovan once. Apart from that, it was the best I've seen him play (scary to think Steven Gray couldn't make the first team). fitzpatrick shouldn't have been on the field to be substituted, and you all know it.
The scenes at the end were unwelcome, despite all the talk in the lead up there's clearly a lot of needle between the two teams, some among the CCFC contingent may be rightly classed as sore losers, but I hope that the TV picked up on some of the actions of the Drogs players at the end, O'Brien in particular was a disgrace, as has been said, even Doolin spotted it and moved them along.
There's a hell of a difference between a bit of argy bargy between players/a gang of fans shouting and spitting and a feel getting his head split open by a flying rock imho. However, it's probably best not to be mentioning that incident too much ahead of Fridays game.Quote:

You are still being hypocritical. Are you really trying to say that we all hate The People's Republic TM so much that we blow these things out of proportion? NO. We all give $hels abuse and especially Corkies who cream themselves at the oppurtunity to call Shels scum. There is no difference but just you continue to delude yourself.
Ye won the fai cup for the first time(i think) last year, and won a setanta final that ye deserved nothing out of and all of a sudden ye are winners!:rolleyes:Quote:

There will be no reference to Cork not turning up in 2005 or Cork playing Drogheda off the field for 100 minutes in 2006.
Football is a results business and on these two occasions Drogheda United were the winners and Cork City were the losers.
You Cork boys will have to learn to live with it! If you wanted to have a bit of class about it you would accept these defeats graciously! Was that a pig I just saw flying passed the window??
Sour grape anyone ?Quote:

Bit of perspective wouldn't go amiss, otherwise you do come across as poor losers in the Shels mould.
Had a feeling you'd pull me up on that! ;)Quote:

That way we can see that Fabio and Danny get their comeuppance along with clearing up the involvement of Joey and any saliva-donors.
Tiktok's response sums it up perfectly for me. Good game, fantastic atmosphere although result was heartbreaking for us.
Anyone who spat is on camera and should be banned from all El grounds for the rest of the season if not life. Again didn't see this but however bad the ref was there is absolutely no excuse.
Danny was a sore loser as people have said and deserves his ban. Should learn from it. O' Brien deserves a reprimand too and should have been sent off.
Fair play to Drogheda ye took ye're chance and won the game. Congrats.
Keep producing langers lads and your day won't be long coming to an end.
Happy Drog hunting:p
And where in my post did I say we were winning cups all over the shop??:confused:Quote:

As drogs fans we have lots of perspective.I know where weve been in the very recent past.We where 5 mins from going bust a few years ago.We where the yo yo club of the leauge. We couldnt attract any decent players !We are not getting carried away with anything , we are however enjoying our recent success. The fact that both cups came against cork makes it even sweeter. You are the leauge champs and have the best 11 in the leauge.Quote:

micls and tiktok are doing a good job in preventing me tarring ALL Cork supporters with the same brush in fairness. The majority of Cork fans have "congratulated" Drogs but pure begrudgingly with all this "Ye won - but ye didn't deserve it" sh*t. Theres always a parting shot. They scored 1 goal, ye scored NONE...Drogs deserved it 100%.
Also, I'd like to point out that I'm impressed by the fact that the Drogs fans aren't going out of their way to gloat about this win - unless provoked to obviously...so fair play to ye. (Can't believe I said that!!) :0
group hug everybody :DQuote:

Goals win games - ye got one and we didn't - the rest doesn't really matter. As well as that we can both take positives from the game. Ye won a game in which ye didn't play as well as ye can and we played good football at times during the game. A big test up in Derry for ye on Friday night - a draw wouldn't surprise me.;)Quote:

Murphy deserves a long ban and he was caught red handed on camera, period.
And O'Brien too of course.Quote:

Do we have to put up with this rubbish every time a football match is play. The horse is a rotting corpse at this stage.
So the linesman has nothing to do??? he was given a red card he'll be banned.Quote:

He should get a 3 match Setanta Cup ban.
I agree Danny Murphy should get 3 match Setanta Cup ban if hes struck a player as reported (i have not seen). However as has been stated previous it is unfair to use video evidence for one offense & not another. I believe this is why video evidence not used for eL offences.
Well said and I know where your coming from.Back in the 95/96 season a lot of City fans will remember how close we were to being relegated and more than likely going bust after that.Quote:

One question I would ask though is have the board at Drogheda said they were staying put for a considerable length of time or do they demand league success fairly quickly??
It would be a shame if for whatever reason you didnt manage to win the league in the next say 3 seasons and they pulled out
Did they not say they'd stay for four seasons when they came in last year?
Doolins 3 year contract would bring it up to then.
Surely, they're going to stay on board until their ground opens anyway, whenever that is.
The board are apparently staying for the long haul. There main objective ,after winning the leauge :) is to make sure we are financialy stable and can sustain our place in top flight football. The new stadium is the no 1 priority right now and that should start pretty soon.We hope !Quote:
