Que sera sera
We all said we were going to Germany, just going to be 3 months late though.
I reckon Germany is too big to book flights before knowing the venue and kick off time. As someone said earlier it is a risk either way but once you know the venue you will always still be able to find some way there on the cheap.
I also think you dont have to book into Germany. IF the game in in Dortmund its only 2 and half hours from Amsterdam. Thinking outside the box on this could work.
Experience has taught me to wait is to line the airlines pockets or travel half way around the world. Booked frankfort for about €170 because its most central and loks like no matter where they play the game itll be a train connection unless you want to pay through the noise with lingus or whatever, having said that i hope people get out there as cheap as possible cos the bigger the crowd the better for the team.
yeah we booked frankfurt just cause its not too bad location for anywhere in germany .. booked big sized car as well with the autobahns over there be no problem getting around .. get joxer goes to stuttgart going on the cd player and we are away in a hack ..
Anyone know when the Germans will announce the stadium for the game??
the german fa said they would let us know within a month ...Quote:

Definitely. Whether or not we all get tickets, or will be all standing up to replicate the Paris atmosphere, is another matter...
How do they allocate tickets.Do EL clubs who get tickets for home games get offered tickets....or do they apply.Would anyone know roughly how many tickets will be given to the Irish.
10% given to the away team. eL clubs (as in the clubs themselves, not the North Terrace block booking group) get an allocation - certainly worth a try.
No most of GUFC's international tickets are tied up with the corporate season tickets.Still though thinking of heading over anyway, although my Debs are on Monday the 4th!:eek:Quote:

If Germany dont get to world cup final maybe theyll not bother turning up giving us more tickets. Need to start trying to get tickets in German end. MY German friend (became friend quickly now i want tickets!! and i wont mention the war) is checking out how they selltheir own tickets.
Not strictly true, a number of the groups have secured tickets to away gamesQuote:

Germany are playing their opening game in world cup in Munich. There other group games are Dortmund and Berlin. If they win the group they will play the remianing games in the same cities. Berlin holds an extra 8,000 compared to Dortmund and Munich so id put my money on Berlin. My preferred choice would be Dortmund but only because been to munich already.
As Far as I know, your attendance at previous away games is not kept on file and that its a draw for tickets between the block bookers once they know how many tickets they are going to get. Thats my understanding of it.
WE are playing in Stuttgart according to the German Fa site here
If Its wrong, sorry.
Babysis , can't open that link here in work. Does it say anything specifically?
Cheers
Hi, I did a google search for the German Fa. Google offere to translate the page, and here it is:

Who did you book with?
I've a qoute of £124.30 with BMI, but thats Lon->Stutt
Yeap, it is Stuttgart. Quite a nice place really. Have to admit though that I am a bit surprised about that decision. Rather thought it would be Dortmund (capacity) due to a probale massive presence of Irish supporters...
I think we'll get tickets easily on ebay.de
Are people definitely sure that the game is in Stuttgart? Cause I don't wanna be booking hotel rooms in the wrong bloody city!
Ive been told Its stantsted to Stuttgart Fri 1st sept (am) to Mon 4th Sept (pm). (you lot are making me really paranoid we've got it wrong)
the total including taxes is £52.86 per person. Its with german wings. waiting on the others before it can be booked. There are 4 of us going now. Makes hotels easier anyway
I just booked Dublin to Stuttgart on Ryanair out on the Wed for €25 pretty happy with that. Even if I dont take it its still dirt cheap but I think I will. Wed to sat is great time to get ready for the game.
Speaking German, I just checked on dfb.de. Just don't talk about k.o.
Guess it will be 15.30
You can always cancel a hotel Kingdom its flights you want to worry about as you dont get refund on those. Nearly all hotels you dont have to comfirm until about a month before and some you can leave it 3 days. So I would say book away really.
Neil Ryanair don't seem to fly to Stuttgart?Quote:

Some of the lads had never been away from home before
'Twas the first time Whacker put his foot outside of Inchicore
Before we left for Europe we knew we'd need a plan
So we all agreed that Joxer was the man to drive the van
In Germany the autobahn, 'twas like the Long Mile Road
There was every make of car and van all carrying the full load
Ford Transits and Hiaces and an old Bedford from Tralee
With the engine overheating from longhauling duty free
There was fans from Ballygermot, Ballybough and Ballymun
On the journey of a lifetime, and the crack was ninety-one
Joxer met a German's daughter on the banks of the river Rhine
And he told her she'd be welcome in Ballyfermot any time
As soon as we found Stuttgart we got the wagons in a ring
Sean Og got out the banjo and Peter played the mandolin
There was fans there from everywhere attracted by the sound
At the first Fleadh Ceoil in Europe, and Joxer passed the flagon round
But the session it ended when we'd finished all the stout
The air mattresses inflated and the sleeping bags rolled out
As one by one we fell asleep Joxer had a dream
He dreamt himself and Jack Charlton sat down to pick the team
Joxer dreamt they both agreed on Packie Bonner straightaway
And that Moran, Whelan and McGrath were certainly to play
But tempers they began to rise and patience wearing thin
Jack wanted Cascarino but Joxer wanted Quinn
The dream turned into a nightmare, Joxer stuck the head on Jack
Who wanted to bring Johnny Giles and Eamon Dunphy back
The **** crew in the morning, it crew both loud and shrill
Joxer woke up in his sleeping bag many miles from Arbour Hill
The next morning none of the experts gave us the slightest chance
They said the English team would lead us on a merry dance
With their Union Jacks all them English fans for victory they were set
Until Ray Houghton got the ball and he stuck it in the net
What happened next is history, brought tears to many eyes
That day will be the highlight of many people's lives
Joxer climbed right over the top and the last time he was seen
Was arm in arm with Jack Charlton singing, Revenge for Skibereen
Now Whacker's back in Inchicore, he's living with his mam
And Jack Charlton has been proclaimed an honorary Irishman
Do you remember that German's daughter on the banks of the river Rhine
Well, didn't she show up in Ballyfermot last week and ...
