Get over it!! That has nothing to do with football.Quote:

The Germans, I've nothing against the English, but I've love to see the reaction in the gutter press if the Germans beat the English in a final.
Tough one. How to decide between the two largest war mongering imperialists of the past thousand years? I'll plump for the Germans, they didn't have anything to do with oppressing Ireland.... so far!
As regards getting over things and history having nothing to do with football you would be in the minority on that one some of the hostility show by opposing sets of fans at certain international matches has nothing to do with the teams concerned and everything to do with historical enmities between nations.
Germany for me. I hate the cockiness of the English media and players. Love to see them lose because if they won we would never hear the end of it
Voted for england on the basis that half of my family are english citizens.
"Now, I think I may have got away with it, but dont mention the war !"
Mr. Fawlty, Fawlty Towers.
I'm originally german so germany it is for me even though i cant see us go far this year. With regards to the press. I think its rather funny how the english media goes on about 66 as it only shows that they havent won anything since :D . Funnily enough most english fans i speak to when i go to watch matches there say exactly the same
Went for Germany cos I reckon they'd be underdogs. Don't have a problem with the English squad, bar any man u players :D (past or present).
Germany you would never here the end of the english if they won the world cup
Germany, hate the brits english team
have to agree were still hearing about 66 these days.Quote:

Just. BUT the gutter press, their cockiness, their readiness to still go on about '66, their side swipes at the Germans, war-jokes, and the likes making it unbearable to most neutrals not to dislike England.... Caught between two stools here, id have to say Germany...
I'm not keen on either of them but it's a bit harsh to describe them as stools :DQuote:

Germany - they built our road network with their EU money. Vielen danke meine Kameraden.
Can't believe England got so many votes
England for me. They saved us from the Nazis in WW2 when we were too chicken to stand up to Hitler
Being English, it will have to be the boys in white.
I hate the English gutter press and don't undertand why anyone here buys the British tabloids.
When England are knocked out, I will automatically support Germany. When I was growing up there was a profound respect for the Germans - I think it was the post-war economic miracle.
I would also support the USA - they are the rising power in world football now - No 6 in the world.
Granted they have a good lot of young players coming through like Beasley and Freddy Adu, who is probably goiong to be the first American football superstar, and they also have older, experienced players like Pope and Donovan.Quote:

I don't know about that. There seems to be a fair amount of concensus that England are ****.Quote:

I was living in London during WC 98 and I gave the usual Irish retort of "we would never hear the end of it if you lot won it" to a confused looking englishman I was having a beer with. "What on Irish television?" he indignantly inquires.:o
From what I've seen on TV last night I can only be sure of one thing (at least...). Germany won't win the WC, nor will England.
Germany struggled for the whole game against Japan (who made a very strong impression) and should have lost by 3 or 4 goals to nil.
But as usual they were lucky and managed to get a draw.
There is a real hype now going on in Germany after their 7-0 victory over Luxembourg !!! Believe or not. But yesterdays display was awful.
Did anyone see in that B international last week the diving of one Joe Cole when he came on. The commentators merely stated: 'Joe Cole trying to win a peno there'. Had it been a long-haired latino player they would have ranted on about the disgraceful culture of diving in such countries etc. Just another example of the bias of their media.
Agree with Londonirish7 , neither of them have a prayer but if both made the final id watch old episodes of Glenroe instead :)
Yeah cos if Duff , Keane etc done the same we would castigate them of course:rolleyes:Quote:

I wouldnt personally, because I dont complain about the people who dive, IMO its up to the refs to repremand them. The RTE panel for example do complain about disgraceful diving and I believe they would call Duff or Keane on blatant diving, and I even think they have done in the past.Quote:
