Anyone know who Pat Scully won his single cap against?
Joe Lapira is one to add to the list. Safe to say he won't be getting called up again
according to soccerscene, it was a friendly VS Tunisia: http://www.soccerscene.ie/sssenior/m...ils.php?id=245
Came on as a sub at half time.
#Whos that standing the corner whos that standing over there its Joey Lapira with his one cap and he'll never add to that cos he....................#(join in the sing song in paris to get ending) :)
Paul Butler and gary Howlett both feature prominently in One Cap Wonders, book by Grahame Lloyd, published by Robson Books in 2001.
Michael Doyle earned one cap in 2006.
Paddy Madden, David McGoldrick, Cyrus Christie and Shane Duffy all have one cap but are all reasonably likely to earn more.
Doyle was 2004, wasn't he? Late sub against Holland?
That was one of my favourite friendly wins - Matt Holland and Alan Quinn bossing midfield and Keane with one of his best goals for Ireland.
I could be wrong, Supreme. I got my info from Wikipedia.
And you're right. It's up there with the 4-0 win over Denmark.
Edit: http://irishecho.com/2011/02/keane-n...uel-holland-2/
You are, indeed, right.
Was Kelham O'Hanlon mentioned? I think he played half a game v Israel, the David Kelly debut hat trick game at Dalyer.
I was going to say Jon Goodman until I looked him up. He got 4 caps apparently.
I never liked anyone who spelt 'John' without the 'h'...
Later gave up football and became an actor on Roseanne. Gained lots of weight.
My 3000th post chaps! And so many of you said I wouldn't make 600. Good God I have so many people to thank. To POSH for picking up that litter in Bari. To Charlie Darwin for his love of crackbird and encouragement. Nigel Harps for his words of wisdom. Adam for keeping things together in such dark times.
Stutts for his love of art, particularly Tilda Swinton in that box. To many of your sisters and female relatives.
leave you with this: a ballboy slipping behind Maria Sharapova

I feel a small sense of pride.
Jonny Hayes needs another look post haste!!!

I know he tends to score in bursts but for a guy who has scored quite a bit in the championship, it is odd that Joe Mason doesn't have at least one cap.
madden only played once, a friendly against Wales
Great thread, enjoyed reading this.
To be honest how many off us would of given anything for just one cap?
Running out in front of our wonderful fans, and having the honour of wearing the green shirt.
Priceless!
A piece on Jon Goodman and his short-lived international career: http://www.the42.ie/jon-goodman-foot...38265-Feb2017/
I thought he was excellent in The Big Lebowski.
What about 2 cap wonders? That's almost more interesting in a way. The list includes Glenn Crowe, Clive Clark, and Alan Mahon. Clive Clark is a country & western singer now. Or at least his name suggests he may be.
The picture of lads in training in the article is good http://img2.thejournal.ie/inline/323...ersion=3238507 Think I recognise them all except possibly the nose between Breen and McGrath. I have an idea who it might be but can't be sure.
What brand of cleats is the one with the green in the middle? Could they be now defunct Etonics? Those are collectors items these days.
To quote SkStu: "you'd miss Crosby all the same."
I still reckon Mike Milligan could have been a contender!
