Lad at the game says it is now postponed.
It's official postponed now 35 minutes before kick-off, what a LOI joke Bradley will be the happiest man in Ireland right now
Yeah it’s been announced by the league now. Feel for the Cork fans having experienced it myself in around 2016, arriving to Finn Park 15 mins before kickoff on a Monday night wondering why the floodlights weren’t on, turned out there had been a failed 7:15pm pitch inspection with none announced prior to that
I have the 9pm train booked to get home. When they said the game was on a 4pm i booked a back up air coach at 10 just in case I missed the train.
Thanks FAI/LOI for messing us around.
That's a disgrace calling it off so late given the distance the away club / fans were making. A final call should have been made at 2pm or so, would probably have been too late for travelling fans, but at least they could have made plans to turn back.
Arriving to a ground and soaked only to be told its off is really unacceptable.
Rovers are the only winners here.
I agree but the pitch looked ok at 4pm and then a monsoon came down at 4:30 which killed it.
It was playable at 4pm.and at that stage anyone coming from Cork was on the way at taht stage. Still it's tough but we've all been there
Was there a bit of messing outside of the Maldron by Cork fans??
The team put up on fai connect was good enough to beat Cork. Tbh I'd rather have played it, going to shels next Friday and they will be up for it big time, chance to go 8 ahead. We better not lose....here's hoping for a handy win
He was on the bench. That's another thing. He'll definitely be fit enough to hammer is whenever the game is played
Thats mad considerig how well that pitch drains after the remedial work a few years back. Must have been some serious amount of rain fell in short spell. Im in Kilmainham after a long spell in St James's Hospital and weather seemed ok - Tallaght Stadium's micro climate strikes!
Very heavy rain in Walkinstown from around 4pm for 30 mins. On the way up to Tallaght another heavy shower around 4.45. If the game had of started it definitely wouldn’t have finished.
If the pitch was playable at 4pm only on the provision that there was no more rain then it was reckless to chance it
Bone marrow transplant for a form of blood cancer. A few here knew. Im cockroach like, survive allsorts. On he mend, plenty to go but so far so good and age on my side, back to quarrelling on foot.ie so a good sign. 12 months of not being able to get to games rankled but by Summer I should be able to get to games. If I can complain about the new cool LoI its not beig able to tip up to Richmond Park while in the area with plenty of space to social distance. Genuinely appreciate the well wishes lads!!
By the way, have to say this. If in the age profile eveyone should consider joining the marrow donor registry as it is potentially life saving stuff. White northern European ethnicity there is alway a good chance of finding a donor but scarily if black, asian, mixed ethnicity the chances of finding a donor are 30% or less and thats the internationl register not just local so if yiz can spread the word as those stats can be chipped awaay at and I think LoI clubs and community could be at the fore front of efforts. When back at full health I might even contact clubs to see if formal campaign can be organised.
Now back on topic!
Speedy recovery Nesta. Sounds like a rough time for you.
All the best Nesta, hopefully you’ll be back in Oriel soon
Not easy but not as rough as I expected tbh, imagination is worse than reality sometimes. Our (free) Health service has been incredible, it gets a pasting, rightly so with ED issues but once past the ED and admitted its a real nit picker that faults all. I do accept that hospitals and individual experiences can differ but St Vincesnts and St Jamse's ive not a single complaint, no waiting around even, and in comparison to some NHS trusts Ive worked in well by comparison they were more like field hospitals. Being on the patient side rather than the practioner side was weird, hard, lack of control, understanding what was going on was bleh to use the medical term. I wont tie up the thread but if anyone ever finds themselves or a family member in a similar position pm me and Im hapy to give then inside suss on things as as mentioned fear of the unknown is the hardest part not so much the reality.
Sorry to hear about your health difficulties Nesta. I missed a lot of 2018 season as I was a mth in Mullingar hospital for a twisted bowel and was in critical ward for a good few weeks during that time. Your health really is your wealth!
Nesta sounds very rough …. Hope you have successful treatment and a speedy recovery
Keep fighting the good fight Nesta, wishing a speedy recovery to you
Hope all goes well Nesta.
All the best Nesta. Glad you are doing a bit better.

Top of the league and getting your health back. your only one position below Rovers
Yeah, Nesta is one of the very reasonable and educated posters on here. Wishing you well Sir. On the game Friday night, that was a classic Galway United display. We're so hard to break down, especially once we're a goal up. The wondergoal Keena scored can't really be legislated for. Hickey is a revelation. I was so impressed at different stages last season with how good his hold-up play was, and now he's adding goals to that. Same can be said for Esua. His cross for the first goal, and the clearance off the line show we have a great full back there. I was worried when Kazeem left in the summer, but Esua has seamlessly covered his absence. Long way to go, but looks like we'll be a tough game against anybody again this season. Love seeing Terryland packed to the rafters to watch these lads.
Best wishes and hope you have a quick recovery Nesta
All the best, Nesta. Good to have you back posting - CorribsideSteve hit the nail on the head describing you presence here.
