Made his first Premier League appearance in a while for Leicester, coming on as a sub in their latest beating. I think that now makes him the Irish player with the most ever Premier League appearances for Leicester, although that isn't a particularly high bar to clear.
He's still behind Jonny Evans and Neil Lennon, to name two off the top of my head. :wink:Quote:

Given we're in the Ireland forum talking about the Ireland team I would have said it was fairly clear what Irish meant. If I wanted to include players who played for the north I would have specified that.
On a similar note the team branding on FAI socials is interesting these days. You very rarely see the word Republic in use of late. A quick search on Twitter shows that the last use of "Republic of Ireland" in the text of an FA Ireland or Ireland Football account tweet was last year. Squad announcements are always issued as Ireland. It seems to be a conscious decision and is great to see.

This actually came up recently while I was researching a stat. Recent U21 call up Jack Moorhouse was named as a substitute for Manchester United against Arsenal and Spurs. If he had come on in either game, would it count as an appearance by an Irish player, given that both games were before his U21 call up, and his only involvement with the national side before that was an U19 training camp? If it does count, then is the last Irish player to appear for United before him Will Keane, who played in an FA Cup game against Shrewsbury in February 2016, while still an English player, or Robbie Brady who made a single appearance for United in the League Cup in September 2012?

He's not injured. Van Nistelrooy has accepted they're toast this season, and is looking at some kids. Possibly he's considering the options in the event of a fire sale, but they also have a couple of pretty good teenagers who they might as well assess now as in games they'll need to win next year.
Sure he's not injured? the last two times he missed 4 games, it was confirmed as an injury when he was returning. played 8 mins off the bench and then out again. i'd bet it was a recurrence of the same injury.

I checked premierinjuries.com and the Leicster Mercury. Both suggested he's available. Of course, he may not yet be 100% after a recent injury.
What he should be considering is his options for a new job. I'd be shocked if Leicester kept him on next season. Current owners seem to have no interest in the club the way his father did.Quote:

McAteer back in the starting team and finally a result for Leicester - a draw away at Brighton. He had a good game, was one of Leicester's best players. Big change from being left out for a kid during the week. RVN seems to have absolutely no idea what he's doing but hopefully McAteer can get a run in the team for the rest of the season now.
I still strongly suspect he was injured even if it wasn’t reported. A few days ago, I went through the vids that the club post of their training the last few weeks and as far as I could see he wasn’t training until this week.

Been starting the last few games. Watching today and he's having a solid industrious game. Seems to have matured quite a bit this year

Will hopefully do a bit of damage in the Championship next season, could be one of the better players in the division.
Been watching some highlights and starting to think a move into DM/CM would be a good option for him.
I don't think he'll ever set the world alight as a right winger but he's a busy enough player and could do a job there. He should be starting most games next season so here's hoping. Granted this might just be wishful thinking with the strength in depth we already have on that wing
