Your sums are all wrong because Doyle went for around €110,000 but Byrne was sold for Punts, if I'm not mistaken.Quote:

So...did he come home from Stockport, and get transferred to Wimbledon, or was it Carlisle that paid out that much dosh..Seeing as Roddy was gaffer at the time, and his judgement... ;)
Was at Stockport, came back to Pats. Played for the Ireland u18s as a Pats player and was sold to Wimbledon in the summer of 2001 for GB£100,000. Wimbledon loaned him out to Carlisle shortly aftera dn he eventually came back to pats last season, signing for Bohs in the off season.Quote:

Starred at u16 and u18 level for Ireland. He was with Stockport until 1999 when he was sacked
St. Patrick's Athletic stepped in and offered him a contract which got him back on the straight and narrow and ultimately led to a move back across the water.
Who at Pats engineered that masterstroke??
Great business, bringing him home for free, straightening him out, and then flogging him for a big profit.
The guy is a liability!
I think I'd be right in saying he's been booked in every game he's played this season!
sometimes you can be just unlucky....we had a player sent off three times already this season.
Ha Ha. I hardly think you're qualified to comment on what the expectations of Pats fans are, do you ? For the record, our expectations are pretty high, (current shtty form notwithstanding, before you point it out) it goes with being the most successful club of the nineties. If you ever win 3 out of 4 league titles you might have some idea. :pQuote:

Maybe the 'hard done by' Mr Byrne is not so hard done by after all.
I checked his records and he has been sent off now whilst playing for Stockport, Carlisle, Wimbledon, and Bohs. Maybe the Pats fans can enlighten us as to whether this ever happened at Inchicore??
He also has been red carded twice during International under age tournaments.
Its getting harder to make excuses for someojne with a record like that.
So in 7 or so years he's been sent off how many times? He's a defender ffs
How many times has Viera or Keane been sent off as midfielders?
Get over it FFS

lol
it all goes back to the basic point of the thread-the tackle- and wws, you're the only one that thinks it was fine for him to do what he did.
practically every pats fan i know thought it was one of the moments of the season
its called comeuppance, and as I said only a worse tackle on Rogers would have been more well earned
Sad....very sadQuote:

:D And we did it twice!Quote:

Bohs would probably pay us to take Dessie off their hands now, giving us another chance to fix him up and sell him on for big bucks to some other sucker such as, oh, let's say.... Roddy!
The happy drawback of such a scheme now is that, good as he was, he wouldn't even get close to taking John Frost's place on the Pats team if he did come back for the third time.
Shocking tackle deserved red but seen worse when players have connected with both feet.
Some parts left out for Dessies illustrious career :D
He was *alledgley* with Stockport and met some hot chick in a night club , the following monday her drug dealing boyfriend turned up at the Countys training ground with a gun, on the wednesday Pats had signed him on a free.
When he was with Pats the 1st time paying only a fiver to see the most gifted Irish left sided player i ever seen, he was superb for us. Sold to Wimbledon for €475,000 NOT £100 grand with a extra few grand if he played X games when he was one short of X games Wimbledon loaned him out to avoid paying the extra few quid. Whilst there him and his buddies went on the **** and him John Terry and Jody Morris were charged with assault http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/1750289.stm
Went to a few clubs came back to us for free then became free agent and went to Bohs.
So we done well out of him, great player only for his off pitch mentalness he be playing left back vs france in a few weeks Dunno what happened at Bohs but he was alright with us.
kdjac
If ye did manage to get £350,000 old punts for him , then thats great, but a slight exaggeration me thinks??Quote:
