Training camp for Derry City in Alicante next week.
UCD 2-2 Longford today
Looks like we were getting battered for the first half until scoring twice in the minutes before the break.
Lots of changes in the second half, so hard to know what to make of it overall. No lineups for either side that I can see.
Bohs 3-1 Shels
Rovers 4-0 Bray
Both this morning….
Bohs in their second game of the day 4 nil up at half time against Pats. Afolabi, Akintunde and Williams scoring a good few in pre-season so far.
Seen a video of Chris Forrester on crutches at a pre season game a couple of days ago,be a big blow for Pats if that’s serious….
Cork City 3-0 Treaty United
Tunde Owulabi (2) and Barry Coffey
Owulabi is a new one. Have seen Tundi, Owalabi, Awolabi and several other variations but that's a new one for me. Like the Bazunu/Bazuna misspelling it's wonderful.
Was at it myself, genuinely bizarre stuff that they added 4 goals for Bohs. There wasn’t even a disallowed goal or anything that could be considered an understandable error. Same last night, they had it down as 2-0 Galway for a long period until correcting it to be 1-0 (finished 1-1 in the end BTW)
The two ucd goals were a penalty by Jack keaney and a nice goal by Tobi jinad who was playing centre forward in the first half. First half UCD were basically playing the remains of the 2022 first team (healy, keaney, nolan, keane, Gallagher , higgins) with some youngsters. Second half it was all U19 or LSL I think with healy in goal, didn't recognise any of them. Based on the first half, there is potential there but the new ones will face a steep learning curve. No sign of dylan duffy or Sam todd.

"Highlights" of Dundalk/Harps!!
Sorry about that, I was going off the squad numbers for the ones I didn't recognise in the first half. There were no lineups for the friendly. Shame about Todd.
Rovers just posted goals from yesterday's friendlies. Ian Ryan needs to find some defenders fast, those lads wouldn't get a kick in the LSL the way they defended yesterday. Webster wasn't playing, but Massey and Cole were playing, shambolic defending for all the goals. Ryan's achiles heel at Wexford was defending, a lot of work to do.
Derry City 6-0 Finn Harps in the Brandywell this afternoon
The training camp is in the south of the province. Can't remember the name, but it's inland from Torrevieja. Some golf hotel resort place.
The matches, or at least one of them, will be played in San Pedro del Pinatar, which is in Murcia province.
Playing FC Swift Hesperange, from Luxembourg, on 27th, with Ålborg on 29th.
I think this is the exact same spot Derry are staying in where Dundalk went 2 or 3 times under SK. One of the years Cork City also stayed same week, Brian Gartland has a good few pages about it in his book, entertaining stories !
Meant to be a superb place though with fantastic facilities for training.
Bohs v Harps Friday behind closed doors.....
Rumour of David McMillan on trial for Bray tonight?
Gonna be some battle between UCD and Drogs for 9th and 10th this season. UCD beaten by Bray 1-0 tonight, Drogs were drawing 0-0 with LSL team Glebe Utd late in the game
do ucd have more friendlies lined up? only saw the first two announced?
Collingwood Cup coming next month, so that usually takes the place of our friendlies to a large extent. Playing University of Ulster on 13 Feb
Except in the last 2 seasons less than half the 1st team are UCD students, so that is a problem if you are relying on Collingwood as your pre season, only 5 or 6 of your players are getting minutes. After the most recent batch of departures, there were only 4 recognisable LOI names in the last college game where they got smacked by TUD (albeit missing Keaney and Todd that day) buts that's all they were missing. Thank God for Drogs, this year Harps hopefully.
Well there is that, true.
There's also the LSC against Rovers next weekend, which may end up being a friendly for our players on both sides. I'm presuming we've a couple of signings coming in soon (a la Lonergan, Nolan, Duffy this time last season)
I see tickets for a Pats v Sligo friendly on 4th Feb for sale on Pats website , anyone know what time kick off is ?
