Best home debut since Robbie Keane against Argentina in 98. Agree with some of the comments ive seen doing the rounds that he could be someone you see playing in defensive midfield at some point.
Would be shocked him he isn’t playing for a big club at some point in his career. With his attributes he’s the sort of player more valuable to a big team than a team like Norwich.
Would say he does need to fill out a good bit though but that will happen over time.
He does look a little bit undersized, that's probably a concern in making it to the highest level, but otherwise he's got a lot of attributes that would suit a top level team. Ooh ah Andy O has a ring to it too!
He was on track to start in the premier league for Norwich but for a knock in the week before the opening game. He's carried his end of season form into pre-season and you can see in his Irish performances that wasn't a fluke. I think he'll be starting for Norwich shortly too the way it's going for them, hopefully with Idah getting more chances there too.
I would be very confident of this guy being a star! He is over 6 foot btw.
I would say he will be back in the norwich team sooner rather then later and he will be in our team for most games in this campaign ( don't forget Dara O shea is out)
I would be of a view norwich wont be able to keep him.
Did u see how confident he was in his post match interview he was answering questions while having a laugh with one of his mates off camera. He is 19!!
Sounds like "Go on big man!"
There was a real feeling of dread when O'Shea had to go off injured against Portugal, and the news yesterday that he won't play again this year is terrible, but that injury meant that Omobamidele has made his debut, and now his first start, and has not looked out of place at all, and now will more than likely play the remaining four games this year
I feel that this thread has the potential to get out of hand. We need Pineapple Stu to offer some sobering reality...
Love you Stu!
Makes his Premier League debut today.
No, it looks like he didn't even make the bench
I watched the first half and he did really well. Was caught out once with a ball over the top but was very composed. Made some good tackles, blocks and showed well for the ball as Norwich are another team that plays out from the back.
Excuse me, wrong thread.
He's an extremely talented lad.
I'd be tempted to play him as a defensive midfield pivot in our next round of matches, with Duffy, Egan and Clark as our back three.
It's an interesting idea - alongside Cullen or instead of him?
--------------------Bazunu
-----------Collins Duffy Egan
Coleman Cullen Omo'dele Doherty
---------------------Knight
----------------Idah Robinson
I have used Collins instead of Clark there as he was in the last squad. It seems like there could be potential in something like that. If Omobamidele has the skillset to step into midfield that looks like a decent team.
Edit.

Seems to have had a decent game. I didn't realise they brought in Kabak from Schalke. There would surely be doubts over Hanley and Gibson adapting to the Premiership so one can see why they brought in another option. It should be interesting to see how many games Andrew gets.

I made the 36 Irish teenagers to start a Premier League game into a sporcle quiz, enjoy: https://www.sporcle.com/games/IrishA...ting-teenagers
25/36 disappointed in missing about 5 of them
Good read here

A bit nonchalant ? Hope he's not inconsistent in his performances for us! We have plenty of them already : D
Amazing stuff. I see he signed for Norwich in 2019. Might have moved over a little before. I saw him with Ireland under 17s against a Belgium side that included Jeremy Doku in 2019 and he was awesome. I suppose you could say that some players can just move up the levels easily and adapt. Amazing how he has excelled to such a level whereby he's a centre half spinning by Serbs and resisting their pressing with such ease. Such an awesome prospect we have.
Listened to a podcast earlier, think it was recorded in May. Very down to earth and humble, his main concern was impressing enough to keep in the under 21 squads, never mind the senior squad. Seems very aware of the need to keep challenging himself and not take the praise or the criticism too seriously. Not sure if this will work but it was IFFTV podcast. https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR...AAAAHQAAAAAQAQ
Playing right of a back three tonight against Liverpool. Divock Origi just had the freest head ever between Gibson and Hanley for a goal. They might be trying a back five tonight to tighten up their leaky defence but the gap can't be plugged with both of that pair in there.
Nice bit with him and idah on football focus this morning
I like how bored and nonchalant they both sound : D it's just like get on with it. Don't make a bit deal about anything.
I'm not referring to the subject matter just the attitude
Norwich beaten 7-0. Came on after 70 minutes when they were down to 10 men and already 5 down. Maybe Norwich need to think about reshaping their defence and their attack for that matter.
Norwich are terrible and a dead certainty to go down this season. It just doesn't make sense given how successful they were last year in the Championship. What went wrong?
They're a yo yo club. Back to back championship wins followed by back to back relegations. And they'll probably win the championship again or at least get promoted again next season. They're happy to get the TV money and parachute payments without having to invest heavily in the squad and selling the odd player for a profit. Only way I can't see them getting promoted again is if Pukki struggles to score and they can't replace his goals.
First PL goal. I do reckon this lad will be in the Premiership (or equivalent) for most of his career.
As an aside, in the Norwich Liverpool match that Idah wasn't great in there was a Tzolis guy that was utterly muck. I find it funny that he's the guy they are introducing on 70mins here. I know he's a wider player but I do feel that the few bob paid is a factor here.
Another good game today. Farke just sacked, must be a blow to Idah and Andy. Let’s see what happens with new manager…but if it’s survival at all costs attitude, I fear for game time for their youngsters. Having said that, idah would have needed a loan in Jan anyways, was getting minimal game time thus far
Sacked after winning, I wonder has the replacement been arranged already
Also Andy has nothing to worry about even mourinho wouldn't drop him
Returns to bench today, as Dean Smith not surprisingly errs on the side of experience. Idah also on the bench. Let’s see how the next few games go. Idah for sure needs to push for a loan January if still getting no meaningful game time
