Will probably be at the same level as we are. We have enough of a budget to compete without being world beaters. In fairness to Mr K he has bankrolled us got years and we would be lost without him, he can’t keep tossing cash in the pit though.

Probably just newspaper talk. I’d be surprised if he was genuine candidate.
I hope that's a joke. Wouldn't trust him to carry the water.
2 back to back rookie managers is a gamble too far. Why he wasnt considered for an FAI role is a bit strange but SK didnt want him (or VP for that matter) involved in the international set-up.
There have been a few 'x has the job already' comments around town, each one a different name but all absolute that they that have credible sources:rolleyes:
It looks most like Burton at the moment unless there are some imteresting applications. Leaves Giller and Matthews vulnerable unless maybe they can be used elsewhere with youth with community work thrown in.
I think I may have started the Eddie Howe rumour with a tongue in cheek suggestion that he'd be the man to chase if looking to England and it took some wings lol. Of course thatd be a serious appointment albeit damn ridiculous. Maybe there is a Graham Potter type guy out there but no easy find. It will be a comfortzone appointment imo. I think there may be another 2 seasons under new management before P6 up sticks if there is no progression with their entire own men appointed.
I read very good article on one of the loi websites of candidates in running for Dundalk job. Paul Cooks name was mentioned is it realistic though?
Cooke would be interesting. He was within court case (and a point) of keeping Wigan up. Maybe he is dissilusioned at Wigan so possible. It would still be well withn a LoI appointment and i cant see P6 going to that well. Again bar Burton as their man I doubt it would be one of old loi reliables. Though maybe Bohs should worry...
The appointment will give an indication of whether Peak 6 are sticking around or not.
If its an expensive manager on a decent contract then likely they are in for another year at least
If peak 6 have any smarts they will go all out for Keith Long, outstanding manager working on a shoestring. Although not sure Long will be interested he seems all in with Bohs and has a very good day job apparently.
Buckley would be an interesting one too, been there, seen it, done it appointment.
Keith Long is the best manager in the league. Shamrock Rovers have the spoofer Bradley in charge who thinks he can win a league with a team of midfielders and no strikers. Bradley is a s**t manger and only gets results because Rovers are over paying for a huge squad no one else (except Dundalk) can compete with.
I can only hope Dundalk's owners look for a big name and appoint a manager like Robbie Keane. Bohs are currently 2nd in the table on a fraction of the budget Shamrock and Dundalk are paying.
No chance Paul Cook is coming back here, his stock is high after how he handled the Wigan situation, he's waiting for a championship job to come up.....
RTE sport website reporting that Vinny Perth is very critical some comments of Jason MacAteer.
Jason McAteer in the running for Dundalk job.
It's alright for Shamrock Rovers. You are spending stupid money and making big losses every year with a spoofer manger who's out of his depth and yet you think that's ok.
The worst thing could happen to LOI is Dundalk appointing Keith Long as manager. He's the best manager in the league. Give him one the biggest budgets on the league behind only Shamrock Rovers and see what happens. When you give a brilliant manger like him and a huge budget it's only bad news for the rest of the League
Keith Long the best manager? Is that not being a bit unfair on Ollie?
It's Keith Long for me. I wanted him when Kenny left and he's only improved his stock since. I really hope it's him and not some random coach that pulls the wool over the owner's eyes in an interview.
Exactly my point. Ollie can manage on a shoestring. That said, I sometimes wonder if success is more than the manager. Without the correct background team plus mix of behind the scenes personalities even the best manager will struggle. It is damn hard to work within any job when there is a cheesegrater type in the vicinity.
Budgets aren't everything, look at David Moyes he worked off a shoe string at Everton for years went to United and didn't know how to spend the unlimited funds. I was very critical of Bradley but he's built some squad there and it will be a huge failure if they don't win the league this year. Long almost kept Athlone up many moons ago and has done amazing at Bohs since he's a fantastic manager.
Yeah Long took us to the last day of the season before Athlone went down. Makes you wonder what his fate would have been had he kept us up. Was he always fated to end up at Bohs?
It's not even spending funds, it's just a different job altogether at a side with a lot of resources that are expected to win. Long has done an excellent job at Bohs, but there's no guarantee that would translate to success at Dundalk, especially when you consider he has no experience managing a full-time professional set up. He also has reaped the benefit of a ready supply of good quality young players from Kevin's, and I would be massively skeptical as to whether Bohs are as poorly resourced as they like to make out.
Yeah, but Ollie is far more entertaining than Keith.
Keith Long for me all the way for Dundalk. Had forgotten completely he was at Athlone and he was 6 seasons with Bohs. Think Keith was part of Dundalk side under Dermot Keely that won loi in 94/95 season when their top scorer was a certain Stephen Kelly with 9 goals who had 3 separate spells with us!
Think Keith has really done the business with Bohs and deserves a craic at the top job.
If they are looking within the league and I seriously hope they are not, then Long is the standout choice for them. Otherwise I think they bring someone in from the UK.
The reports now are suggesting they've gone for a European coach which should be interesting.
Not many people would survive in Finn Harps with the budget they have. He has done a super job and is entertaining as well. Never a dull moment. Keith Long has done a great job with Bohs and appears to be committed to staying there. Fair play to him.
RTE are saying its Filippo Giovagnoli, past role was head of AC Milan summer camps according to them.
Ollie Horgan - Congrats on the Dundalk job, you've got the biggest budget in the league now, what's the ambition? "Well, to be honest, I'll be aiming for the relegation playoff, it's a tough league, the team is low on confidence, not a lot going for us really. I'll be cutting back on the budget, sure look it, we're bound to get relegated one day and the club will need the money so there's no point spending it. We'll prepare for Europe with a weekend training session in Drogheda, just to get the lads used to that derelict Eastern block atmosphere". Any signing lined up Ollie? "I've a deal done to bring Raf Cretaro down on a long term deal if one of the lads can fit his zimmerframe in the boot, a great pro and the kind of experience we'll need around here. I'll be getting rid of them fancy dans as soon as possible, Duffy and his stepovers, did you ever see the like? I'll be building my team around the creative fouling abilities of Chris Shields, Gary Rodgers great ability to kick to touch and the defensive bulk of Graham Gartland, the forwards might be faster but sure he's a large man to circumnavigate".
Buckley certainly has Sligo motoring and playing good football..
