He is badly concussed.
When you say assaulted, are we talking proper punch or headbutt sort of stuff?
Think it was elbow to face and steward goes down against concrete wall, didn't see it but that's the word.
More rumours of match fixing involving Limerick on Twitter this evening, looks very bleak for them tbh
Taken away in ambulance.
No time added at end either
Is this a suggestion they were looking to lose by x goals or BTTS and lose or more red cards ? Whatever and if any of this is right, they'd be better off leaving the LOI scene given the well documented problems within that club and come back re-formed (again) and in better shape.
Disappointing to hear this if true.
Limerick went from 10/1 pre match out to 28/1. Massive money put on Sligo -2.5 asian handicap amongst other bets. From what ive heard the game itself reflected the match betting with some terrible "defending" and the red cards.
What a mess. Nothing but bad news for months now, but this is something else. I hope the player in question has already been dismissed from the club, but knowing Limerick no one in any authority will be arsed. If the player even had a contract.
Don't know about match fixing but the second Limerick goal was strange. The ease in which their player was allowed to score was bizarre.
Also the sending off of Leverock looked a bad headbutt. As bad as I've seen on a pitch to be honest. I dont think it could have been faked unless the lads had some serious acting chops.
I missed the incident with the steward but all the wee hardmen throwing stuff onto the pitch and doing Danny Dyer impersonations was a tad embarrassing.
Be gas if both sides were trying to throw the game but Limerick were just more professional.
That was different. That was Vllaznia trying to throw the game, but Sligo were so bad they lost anyway.
One of my favourite LoI moments!
Read the following posts, oriel! :)
Soccer Republic have highlights up on their FB page. A lot of bad defending, but I wouldn't have thought anything dodgy if the betting patterns hadn't been mentioned. Looks like Hughes assaulted the steward while trying to recover a ball for a throw, but it's off camera.
BS, never happened, the reason they would was they were trying to win. Nearly all claims of match fixing are BS especially in light volume fixtures like the LOI. I met friend outside PP one day clutching a roll of money, he had tried to get a substantial amount of money on an outcome involving Sligo Rovers in Europe, they offered him 5% of his stake at half the price.
The problem is getting on and getting paid, of you do manage by timing and subterfuge in getting laid in a shop if the layer suspects fixing they will downright refuse to pay and there is nothing you can do about it. Bookmakers software is so sophisticated that it can detect punters that are canny and don't lose enough money and restrict them without a trader even looking at their account.
If you use an exchange any suspect betting patterns will also lead to suspension of the market/payment and the amounts available on either side of a LOI game are so thin that 200e could shift an outcome from 2s to levels and that is an outright not a derivative, the derivs are normally so thin and overound to be not worth bothering about anyway.
I don't understand any of that but it reads like you know what you are talking about so thanks.
Rovers v Galway
Sligo v UCD
Waterford v Dundalk
Crumlin v Bohs
Essentially a seeded draw
What happens with Bohs/Waterford seeing as they are in that Scottish cup the same weekend?
Jeez Bohs name is on the cup
Two first division teams and then Crumlin....
Two top first division teams and a crack outfit from LSL.
Makes a difference from last year anyway, Galway away, Derry away, and Cork in the semi.
Tough draws for the Hoops too, Harps, Drogs at home , Galway away.
At some point we will have Rovers/ Bohs final , but that will require the continued absence of FAI officials at the draw. I expect the draw for the semi final to be in the Abbotstown bunker
Bohs, UCD, Waterford, Rovers are liable to have a player or two each called up to the U21 (or senior) squad that weekend. We could conceivably see all four quarter-finals postponed! Presumably Bohs and Rovers would take their chances minus any call-ups.
My favorite story I heard from that cup game is that prior to the game arrangements were made for Limericks split of the gate to be paid by cheque which is hilariously villainous if true. :D
You will hear nothing from (this incarnation) of the club about anything ever again I'd say.
It's a corpse floating at the bottom of the first division they'll poke a few holes in it with a stick in about a months time and twill sink.
Then comes the best part of every league of ireland season the off season
Probably not. Someone is updating the Twitter page occasionally, but that's about it. Seems like a long time since POS' semi-regular pronouncements.
