No, and I will prefer goth rock anytime. But it's not like I have a tunnel sight and cannot appreciate something unless it's goth.

I am not a Beatles fan, I don't dislike them at all and they did a fair amount of good work, but they don't move me. Fair play to Paul McCartney for chosing a very good setlist which happened to contain most of the Beatles and solo stuff I like and only a few of the Beatles songs I don't like. The atmosphere was great as well.

It was a great concert year. I saw some of the all-time legends (Rolling Stones, McCartney) and all my favourites (Heather Nova, Levellers, Marilyn Manson, Echo & The Bunnymen, Ian McCulloch, Placebo, even 18 Summers) all in the same year !

First- Make It Work RDS Dublin
Last- Dimitri From Paris Savoy Cork
Best - joint tie here between Sisters of Mercy Henrys Cork and Nirvana/Sonic Youth Henrys Cork (both around 91/92 I think must look at stubs)
Worst- Reading the year it ****ed rain and I didn't bother staying til the end or watching any bands. I swore never to go to an outdoor gig again and I haven't. Fxxking hate those so called big day outs.

Aaah, just remembered being one of about 4000 souls crammed into the Arcadia around 1979 for The Cimarons, a reggae band I never before heard about.
All night I was covered in sweat, mostly other people's, but it didn't matter. These were the heady days before the Stardust tragedy.
About a year later, on New years Day, Rory Gallagher at City Hall was the business.

Forgot about Spiritualized at the old Town and Country in April 1992 was blow away stuff. Also went to see Colchester beat Witton Albion in the FA Trophy final that day.

A mate of mine met Thurston Moore AND Kurt Cobain in Comet on Washington Street the afternoon before the gig. Moore was buying demoes by local bands.

and a new potential favourite is coming... My favourite all-time band, Echo & The Bunnymen, are performing live in The Village, less than 15 minutes walking from my front door :) I'll be buying my ticket tomorrow, don't wanna miss this and the Village is a small venue, so better be quick !

Best: Motorhead in the Olympia a couple of years back.
worst: Guns & Roses at the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt, Belgium 2002.

Axel sucked so badly most of the crowd had gone back to their mud spattered, flooded tents by the fourth song. Three days of absolute mayhem amid the sh1t, muck and drugged out Dutch hippies.

This summer I'm off to the eXit Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. Some line up this year if you are into all the DJ stuff.

toss up betwween Tom Waits at the theatre de westens in berlin in nov 04 or the pixies at the brixton academy earlier in the same year.

never thought id get to see either but wound up seeing both in a year. couldnt believe it.

First Gig - Chris de Burg in RDS in 89 (he had some good stuff back then and I was only 16 so my mum dad and brother went too!)

Best Gig- Roland Gift in the Hot Press Hall of Fame (now Spirit) in 99 (i think). there were only about 12 people there and I sat in front dictating what songs he should play next. He played most of his FYC stuff. After got chatting to him and he invited me back for the next nights gig too where got photos taken with him and FYC stuff signed. He is the sexiest man alive!

Also other favs were Sultans of Ping FC in Rock Garden around 91 I think and lying on our backs air cycling to Turnip Fish, Something Happens in the Fiddlers in Carrick 99ish where tried to get Tom Dunne to drop his trousers for me so could see his sexy legs.....aw the memories.

Worst gig - 02 in the Park a few years ago (had to bring the chislers)

Wettest gig ever - Feile 91 got so soaked!

This thread is like an old girlfriend I keep bumping into. I know it is spookey to keep going into the past, but it is pure self-indulgence.
There used to be gigs in Macroom Castle around 1978 and 1979. Can't remember what they were called. They got huge crowds to see Paul Brady the Dubliners, and I think Rory Gallagher played there too.
Saw Loudon Wainright III at de Lacy House which is now called the Qube. Happy happy days in 1981.
